A local store has a LCD projector on sale for $49.99. Can be hooked up to television, DVD player or computer. It has a relatively low DPI. It is some off-brand.
Is this a good enough deal to act on or should I wait to find another?
Many thanks in advance for the help.

$49.99?

What store is this? If it isn't Best Buy don't buy it.

Any projector under $100 isn't worth it.

I work for my school's tech department, and we spend at least a thousand per projector, that's the professional ones.

I agree with Gamester.

Although, if you want a cheap toy that comes with a warranty that is worth less than a Somalian Shilling, then go for it.

or a Zimbabwean...whatever they use...;)

Go online if you can get the model and model number, and there's sure to be a technical review on it. If not, then that's another bad sign...;)

as other have already said, don't buy it. It's an impulse buy.

Guitar Hero looks great on those screens... I have heard...

I'm not sure DPI is the correct term (I believe it only applies to printers?), but I get what you mean.

Deal breaker, IMO.

Thanks, people. I really appreciate the input. I usually am quite impulsive when I'm shopping. In fact I've written an article about what I call restrained impulsiveness. Any-hoo. I shall pass on the projector since I really don't need one. I just thought for $50 bucks it might be fun but then as an unemployed GIS tech I can't really afford much "fun" for the time being.
