I know it's a old thread but that the first one I found by using the search tool and I didn't want to create a new thread on photophobia.

I don't know whether or not you can be diagnosed for photophobia but I know that I have it. I can't stand light, never been able to stand it. I'm not talking of every kind of light, only the more bright. When I was younger people asked me why I closed my eyes (or only one eye sometimes) even when I was in the shadow during summer (or winter, and winter sun is just WORSE) and it seems that my eyes are more sensitive to light than other's people.
I got a friend who has a genetic disease, she's losing her sight and must wear sunglasses to protect her eyes but she actually don't care about the intensity of light and find me weird.
I know I have no disease like hers.

I have migraine though (well, I didn't have any migraines in months now) and light makes them worse but it seems that I've always been photophobic.

My grandmother told me it could be because of meningitis but I was vaccined for that when I was 12 and never had it. I've read that it can be a sign of many disease. I wonder if I was "predestined" to have migraines or if my eyes are just sensitive.
I see well in dark.

Do photophobic people see well in dark ?

I don't doubt that theory. I get very nervous if I know someone's taking a pic of me. I don't even have many pics of myself just my friends and family.

You can defintely tell that my smiles are fake when you look at them. One reason why I don't bother with smiling anymore.

I suppose my PhotoPhobia is more fear of how UGLY I'll look in the photograph. They say the camera adds 10 pounds...so it'll be like 6 cameras are on me :(

I've been getting my eight hours of sleep during the day rather than the night for seven years now because I'm so annoyed by sunlight and feel so comfortable and alert at night.

Also, I don't know if it is a typical benefit of photophobia, but yes, I have excellent night vision. It seems as if my pupils dilate very easily while contracting is more difficult.
