why are poeple so mean??

I guess I bought an old Babysitters club book at a garage sale or something. It was probably a long time ago. anyway i found it and started reading it, and a photo fell out. It was on a girl with a cake, and she was crying, while 3 older girls, obviously related(or so i think) are laughing at her. Someone had scratched the word "yuck" with an arrow pointing towards her. and on the back were all sorts of smudged bad things written about her. It made me feel sad.

That's mean!
Why did they do that... mind you I suppose it was sibling rivalry... which one was the oldest?... I'm guessing the one with the cake would probably be the youngest...

I'm not sure. :/

People can be quite cruel for the simple reason of either receiving attention or for the need to feel better about themselves. They are most often an act of selfishness.

Funny thing about people though, is that they will only preach tolerance and whatnot when their backs are against the wall....

A lot of ppl who r not on da spectrum r very scatty (crazy) who just don't have feelings 4 other ppl its da way da world is a very bad 1.

People are mean because they can be.

Sometimes people are mean when they don't understand you.
Some are mean with others in order to gain or mantain acceptance in a peer group.
I agree that others do it because they can, and get a thrill by doing that even if they deny it. (seen that online, out of boredom)
Some are mean with people that are different from them.

I see that being mean and getting a thrill by it and not caring, is a stupid and selfish thing, while some people are mean sometimes based on the emotional state at a certain time, which they later regret.

I can't stand a little bit of a mean action from people IRL, even if it is small, due to social anxiety I guess, and insecurities, although some jokes people have made sometimes I have taken them literally.

I can deal with meanness better on-line because my written skills are far better than my spoken skills.
