I just got done watching Mariah Carey sing Hero and her voice sounded so DIFFERENT!! !

It wasn't dynamic and vocal like it use to be. Now I'm not a big Mariah Carey fan but I loved her earlier stuff when I was little.

Here's the original Hero she did live..

I'll see if I can get a youtube of the one she did at the Inaugaration later. I just wondered if anyone saw and noticed this!! !

She's aged.

It happens, even to the best of us.

She doesn't look old.... :?

My mom thinks it's because of all the drinking and drugs she did. I don't know if that's true or not but dayum!

Well, drugs and alcohol surely didn't help any, but even Enya's voice is beginning to sound a little ragged, and she's in her late 40's.

I remember her hitting very high notes in her early work.

^Yes and she use to be able and her voice was dynamic. It use to go for long long periods without cutting.

At the inaugaration she kept cutting amidst her melody.

Even Aretha Franklin was still singing like herself even though her voice has gotten a little low and not quite the same since her youth.

Here it is live at the 2009 Inauguration!!

Compare...

^Thanks Tim, you're awesome!

I guess there's not a lot of people here who really know of Mariah Carey. I was real little when she got some recognition in her music. Eventually when she got real famous her music started turning into crap. I could never figure out why...

I just find it strange how great some of these artists are but don't ever make it after they become "successful". In fact many seem to go downhill from there.

I've noticed this with many singers. Their earliest work is usually the best.

Even though I want to join in, my computer doesn't play any sound right now, which makes it difficult. I'm, not what you would call a Mariah fan, but I've always respected her talent. The same goes for Whitney Houston, and Christina Aguilera. They all have awesome voices. I just wish I could check out the comparison. :chin: :x

Whitney Houston is one of the best.

Very true.

It seems that it would only make sense for them to progress from their talent but it's quite the opposite in my experience.

I mean look at Amy Whinehouse!!

Plastic surgery can hide age.

Or maybe she's just better in the studio than live.
