does anyone have a phobia, like a bad PHOBIA phobia sort of thing? and if so, how do you react when facing the phobia?

I do, my phobia is sick, people throwing up and myself (although I haven't been ill sinse I was 9)
This is a pretty bad one because I get really paranoid at BBQs because I think the meat is undercooked and I'll/someone will get food poisoning.

If I see someone I know throwing up I shake, cry, curl up in a ball, lose my appetite for the whole day, get moody for whole day, I go completely crackers.
I heard that the proper word for a sick phobia is "emetophobia"

I mentioned it in an earlier thread, it happens that I am most afraid of vomiting myself. I don't panic when I see others vomit (or at least I think I don't. It doesn't happen often), but two weeks ago I had the flu, and I had to throw up. I first threw up twice and I actually thought I had finally beaten my fear of vomiting because it didn't feel that terrible. But then I had to vomit again, and again and again, and I panicked anyway. I had to call my mother even though I'm almost 22, and she had to be there while I calmed down.

I've had this ever since I was very ill when I was 14 years old.

EDIT: I want to rationalise it, but I can't get the control over my body when this happens to me. I even cramp up. It infuriates me that I can't face that fear down (or rather, I've failed thus far).

Spiders =(

I freak out and run away, and have hurt myself in the process several times.

And murkey water where I can't see the bottom, touch the bottom...or especially if it's all mucky and seaweedy. If I'm brave, I can swim over it until I reach safer waters, but I'd rather just avoid it.

That one's so bad that it even effects me in videogames o_O

Getting a check up at the doctor, doctors in general.
Dogs.

And I'm afraid of the dark but I wouldn't call that one a phobia unless I've just learned to deal with it.

I have a few really bad fears...but this is one of them.

I have a fear of getting injured. I don't mind getting small cuts or anything, but I mean getting some bad injury that would be noticeable. I'm not afraid of pain (I have a high tolerance for pain) but I'm afraid of the attention I'd get from people if I did get badly hurt... *shudder*

Broken glass, pins and needles, sharp objects.. I'm worried they will somehow end up in my eyes, which is insane but I obsess on the thought and have a major anxiety attack.

I'm also dentally phobic and have to be put to sleep even for a teeth cleaning.

When I look up into a clear blue sky I feel as if im being sucked up, and flipped at the same time. IT's pretty scary... and falling form high places. I even get scared falling off cliffs in games.

I guess hights, or falling, I think the base from what I think was that when I was younger I would quite frequently have nightmares of falling, and then the suden stopping, I think when near hights I can kind of freak at a bit of these memories of feeling powerlessly falling. I can be near some hights, but once it comes very clear that I could easily just fall over the side of railing or whatever and fall, my body kind of retracts and I get scared. Though I have tried to fight it, such as at a school camp I decided to take the chance and do highropes, didn't seem too hard, though once up there I started thinking it was the dumbest thing I had ever done, haveing to balence over a wire with two people I didn't trust holding my saftey ropes 20 metres in the air *shuders*. I think I grew a bit from faceing it, though hard I learnt I can push myself, though I think I wouldnt do it again, there is no greater feeling then conquering your weakness.

I don't like heights. I feel very uneasy just watching very tall rollercoasters although I'm not scared of rollercoasters themselves.

I get freaked out sometimes if I watch a scary movie. When I was younger I was terrified to go to sleep one night because of a film I started to watch. Not anymore though thank goodness. :P

Any medical surgery - just the idea of it freaks me out and when I went in to get my wisdom teeth removed I begged my grandma not to take me (even tried bribing with money, no luck)
Heights - hate them, get queezy and feel frightened if up high
Dark - afraid of what might be there
Murky water - afraid of what might be there
Fish - Got bit by one as a young child, scared of them to this day
Being home alone - what if something happens?

Add this to my list :x

They have to put me on Atavan just to get me to be semi-less nervous for a bone marrow biospy. Even though I know they don't take very long, and they don't hurt very much...I'm still a nervous wreck the night before and the morning of.
