I'm not sure how I ended up filling up my driveway, but it just seems to have happened:

1988 Chevy Astro van...had for 14 years, 300,000 miles, old reliable, runs great, can't get rid of this faithful friend
1985 Chevy Chevette...given to me by a neighbor...a set of tires and a muffler, and I got a 40 Mpg commuting car!
1990 SAAB 900 convertible. My fast, fun car, but it's only a fair weather friend gets good mileage though
1967 Chevy van. a good deal on it from my mechanic...it's got a 327 Impala motor in it great for embarrassing teenagers in rice cars
2002 Chevy Astro van.. recently fell in love with it for all the gadgets inside, like DVD and stuff

I'm trying to decide on what to get rid of, but I like every one of them for their good qualities. The SAAB is probably the most expensive to upkeep, but it's so fun and great to drive top-down. The 1967 van is probably the most troublesome...likes to overheat since it's an old cab-forward van, but it's the biggest van I have and I've found it useful too for hauling sound equipment in. The Chevette, well, everyone says I should get rid of it, but they were the last ones laughing when the fuel price was $4.00/gallon, it's actually quite reliable and cheap to run....so is the 1988 van, but it's a bit thirstier. It's a rare 5-speed van too! And well, I just bought the 2002, I need a "modern" newer vehicle for carrying customers in.

well, at least I don't live in one of those neighborhoods with a nazi homeowner association!

Dude, I think you need to cut down on cars. I like cars as much as the next person, but that there sounds like an environmental nightmare.

Where in the USA do you live?
Must be one of those states with lots of wide open places that you can park all those vehicles around your house and get no complaints ! !

Sounds grand to me ! ! I'd love to have a Jaguar, a Lotus, a Mini and so on ...

You've only got 5. When you get one for every day of the week, you might want to consider down-sizing.

Saab 900...seasonal? If you're not driving this thing in snow you're definately missing out...those things are like tanks. Grew up around them, all my father would own for years.

My parents had lot of cars too but sold some of them. The church lady (minivan), the green pick up truck, one of the mustangs, and we had a 1988 silver car but the engine cracked so bye bye.

I think that's it. They did have a green 1970 pick up truck when I was real little and the seats were torn up and I hated them because it felt like I was sitting on sandpaper and I hated how it felt. They were all bumpy. Then he finally sold it.

Now they have the 1985 truck, 1997 Saab, 2005 Grand Cherokee, the white pick up truck my brother has, 1985 Honda Accord, their RV, and a 1998 Toyata my brother other has.

They just sold the 1979 limo my brother bought when he was 17. I think they still have one of the other Mustangs.

One of our renters left their car in our yard right near the barn which is an old house.

get rid of the 1967 one, troublesome as you say,
and of the 1988 one, keeping it because it's a 5 speed? nonsense.
and of the 1985 one, you're just keeping it for sentimental reasons.

Just use more the 2002 one, and keep the Saab, your weekend car (:

good luck.

@Pretorious, I think he's in Europe

Near my house someone has a huge Chevvy which is a obvious import (because they dont sell that car here in England and the steering wheel is on the wrong side).

I personally have owned two cars my self.
1994 Nissan Pathfinder - 2" torsion lift 5spd
1984 Chevy S10 with a year 2001 262 Vortec and a 7" lift. 5spd

-

If I could own any car, I would have a few.
I would get:
a brand new 2007 Subaru WRX STI, or an Audi A5 AWD TDI
But the A5 with both AWD and the TDI engine is not available in America.
A 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins
A Heavily modified Jeep CJ7 or TJ
A Dodge Challenger

when my sister and i lived at home and had our own cars we'd have 5 vehicles at the house:
1997 Honda Accord V6 (my mom's, and the only automatic)
1997 Mazda B3000 pickup truck (my dad's)
2001 Honda ST1100 (dad's bike)
1995 Honda Civic (sister's)
1992 Honda Accord (mine)

that's two in the garage (mom's car and the bike), the truck and my sister's car in the driveway (we had enough room for everyone to get out without moving the other cars) and mine on the street. occasionally we'd have my other sister's car there if she came to visit.

if I was in your situation, i'd be getting rid of the chevelle and the '88 astro. you've got the 2002 astro to replace the old one, and i'm just not very fond of chevelles so it would be easy for me to part with it. my obsession for years was cars, i just wish i had the money to actually buy some to work on and fix up. if i ever won the lottery i'd have a big house, and a bigger garage.
