I was just thinking this as my place is being invaded by Chinese beetles. My dad wants to get rid of them but I don't...there's just something that's always fascinated me about them.

Anyway, I've had other obsessions with bugs that I get sensative about or almost see as goodluck even though I don't really believe that stuff. Plus we don't seem to have many posts dedicated to them.

So I'll start....

Ladybugs and Chinese beetles...I don't know what it is about them..

Image

Dragonflies...it's especially awesome to watch as they fly around mating...

Image

Butterflies in all varieties...love those colors and designs naturally painted upon their wings....

Image

Dogbane beetles...I mean look at them. Iridescent and shimmering.

Image

And then there's lightening bugs...I use to get a kick out of watching them at night.

Anyway I don't want to hog the thread so Your Turn!!

We get hundreds, maybe thousands of ladybugs periodically here. They can be all over our windows inside and out. Stinker just loves them.

It almost looked like this...

I just don't have the heart to kill them..... :(

^^ :eew:

I try to save as many as I can from the merciless Stinker. Being a cat, he likes to toy with them before he kills them and then he doesn't always eat them. :?

I suspect they're not that delectable given their crunchy exterior.

I imagine their interior might be delicious, not that I know.....

His favorite bug is the house fly. He always eats them. He even tries to charm them by making some kind of funny meow sound. It's really funny to watch him do that.

You're actually pretty close. 8) It's not really a spider. It's more of a cross between a spider and a scorpion. They're huge too, I've read about troops in Iraq seeing them at 6" plus. 8O

I love bugs! (one of my obsessions ) Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to show right now, but my favorite bugs are mantis, dragonfly, ant, butterfly, ladybug and rhinoceros beetle. There are a lot more I like but those are my main favorites. One of the reason I love camping is being able to see so many cool bugs!

I like big bugs I can not lie
you other entymologist may deny
But when a creep crawly wiggles it's abdom in your face
Your net gets sprung

My favs are already posted though. Praying mantis and dragonflys.
