I am a bit concerned I have AS and sementantic pragmantic and I sometimes have a really hard time controlling my emotions. By this I mean when I watch a film on tv or even play a video game, depending on how strong the storyline is I feel a sense of overwhelming sadness if something bad happend in the storyline. It's almost like I wan't to be involved in the storyline even though this technacley impossible. ( I have been suffering from this problem since childhood and into adulthood). I am not really sure what to make of all this really?

All I am asking really is that do all these emotional feelings have something to do with me having and AS etc....?

My son is the same way (he's 10 and AS as well) and I have to be very, very careful of what video games he plays, what movies/tv shows he watches. Things care scare him, or he becomes overwhelmed by what happens to the character. I think this is a big part of who he is and won't change as much as he ages. We talk a lot about separating the story from reality, but I recognize that the emotions he's having are very real to him.

I'm the same way. I'm not sure if its from AS or what, but it probably is, considering many others with AS have the same "problem."

I don't see it as a problem, as I experience stories and movies and all that stuff with more emotion than others, making them more real, and much more enjoyable. I don't get scared of things anymore like I did as a kid, and the other emotions affect me slightly less now, so I think it fades a bit with age.

I generally feel very little emotion in these situations - almost the opposite effect really.
