There is finasteride, but he'd have to take it for life because once he stopped taking it any hair he grew from it would fall out, it is known to have some sexual side effects. Other than finasteride and castration, I don't know of anything that will stop and possibly reverse hair loss, there are other products that can slow it down though. If it bothers him a lot he should see a dermatologist.

And yeah, guys can start losing their hair in their teens and twenties, it's pretty common.

It's not your friend's fault. It's a hereditary thing. The hair-loss gene was passed down from either mother, father, or both. There are home care products on market, like Rogaine, but they require a high degree of commitment... and there's no guarantee of success. There's also hair-transplant surgery but that's very expensive.

The best thing to do:

- keep hair short to avoid combing. combing will accelerate hair loss.
- don't wear any hats. hats block out oxygen and keep in perspiration and harms the scalp.
- avoid hair-spray products. clogs hair follicle pores.
- switch to organic shampoos that are gentle on hair.
- don't use conditioners.

Hope these tips help.

My hairline started moving around that age. Slowly at first. Thirty years later I'm almost completely bald. Am I bothered? Not in the least. Though I guess it could be unsettling to someone only 19 if it progresses quickly. Hair today, gone tomorrow.

Man, my hairline has started to recede too. It seems like I'm slowly loosing hair every day. Not much I can do about it, I guess.

Minoxidil products might help. It's not that rare to start losing hair at that age. However if there's nobody in his family that's bald maybe he should see a doctor just to make sure it's not something more serious.

Poor kid.... :(

I knew a guy that was thinning at age 21, that's like the worst time I think for a guy to go bald.

SOME guys simply got the genes to lose their hair very early. a friend of mine started to get thin-haired around that age. now, hes 27 and has the baldness of a monk

I will be bold by the time I am 24 :( It's fine, but it will have bad consequences with regard to my attractiveness.

Should I:

1) Keep it and look stupid
2) Get a super short haircut
3) Shave the shi* off and forget about it

1) Image
2) Image
3) Image

Boldness is a major turn off for chicks either way you put it. :(
