My Obi-Wan brought me a gift today, a rather large dead house mouse.

It's the utmost symbol of affection from feline to human when they give you a prey item. They're acknowledging you as a member of their family as if you were one of their kittens.

:D

yes exactly! This happened to my mother as well with her cat but she couldnt help feeling it was discusting but she knew it was important to her cat showing his love to her.

It doesnt happen to me as my cat is an indoor cat, she shows her love in other ways

My cats used to bring me mice, lizards, birds etc until I got a dog. Now they keep it all outside because they know that the dog will try & steal their prey.

Our cats would normally drop the dead animal (typically a chipmunk, but moles and mice are fair game) on the doorstep. Back when we lived in a house with a cat flap, they'd bring the live prey inside the house and simply move the hunt inside, as if they wanted a bit more challenge. Then it becomes a different story entirely.

My Cybermat (read: cat) left a little "present" for me today too. He barfed all over the floor. How adorable...

One of my cats once walked up to me and very gently laid something on my bare foot. It was too thoroughly masticated for positive identification, but I rather suspect that it was the tail of one of the lizards that ran around the place we were living in at the time. :eew: I thanked him and disposed of the "gift".

Fortunately, since my cats were housecats, that was the only "present" I had to deal with.

If ever you own an intelligent bird (eg, parrot, cockatoo or similar) and they upchuck for you, it's analogous to a cat bringing you a prey item. It's the highest compliment a companion bird can pay you.
