When many people equate "logic" with a lack of empathy. The way I see it, one's lack of empathy is not due to thinking carefully, but rather due to a neurological deficiency or simply not being observant or aware enough.

Any agreements? Disagreements?

I agree. I am not a logical person by any means. However, I'm definitely not an empathizer, either.

Some people are just not as "aware" as others. They haven't had the socialization to become aware. That's where appropriate communication comes into play. Some people need to be sat down and explained everything from scratch. That's what caring is call about. Once they have "all" the details of a situation...then and only then can they be called empathetic or not.
I've had a situation where I though an individual had no heart whatsoever until I "communicated" to him a partinent part and then I had a real, empathetic friend. This particular part of the situation struck a note of understanding on his part where the rest of the info was interpreted by him as mere complaining about little details. He needed to see the bigger picture and how it affected my future. That's why therapy can be a real good thing to some folk. They need to look at a situation from many different angles.
