Your family and siblings, big or small? what are they like?
Curious. Was just talking about this with a guy I work with who is an only child.
That concept is so foreign to me.
I've got 3 older brothers, an older sister and a younger sister.
Technically I've got 1 younger sister only. I've got 2 older brothers by my mom's first marriage, and an older brother and sister by my dad's first. But we all grew up together in same house, brady bunch style, so consider them brothers and sisters, not half.
Now, on top of that, My mom's first husband remarried some bimbo with a son one of my brothers age. When he turned 18 he moved in with us because his mom and my mom's first husband are nutbags. My sister's girlfriend's, when she was 15, mom found out they were lesbians and dating, she disowned her and kicked her out. She moved in with us and lived with us till she graduated college.
So if you ask me, i've got 3 sisters and 4 brothers. Now, dont even want to include in-laws lol.
We never had 8 of us living together. We range in age now from 26 to 40. So Older brothers and sisters were moving out as the semi-adopted ones were moving in =P. Never more than 6.
I think it helped me learn socializing. Was pretty much thrown into it. Trial by fire. My younger sister (just 11 months younger) is really the only one I stay close with to this day, talk to nearly daily. She's NT, but just barely =P. Majored in neural psychology, so smart and actually recognized my AS before I told her. I think her words were, when I was talking about my watches and horology, something to the effect 'do you know what aspergers syndrome is and that you have it?' She actually gets jealous sometimes saying she wishes she had it. But she loves the correlation to the book 'running with scissors' - that she's gay and has an older brother with AS like Burroughs. Our mom is also massively bi-polar, has a quack for a shrink (not to the point of burroughs though, luckily lol) and has always had aspirations of being a poet even though, hate to be honest here, her writing is mediocre at best =P). When ever its family get together time we've been told non-inner-circle family are warned about us and our humor (boyfriends, girlfriends etc). Our parents were baby boomers, older and a bit more proper, but the two of us somehow are the exact opposite of proper. I wouldnt describe our humor as gross, but highly inappropriate. We just have a tendancy to find humor in places most would not consider it. Family dinners usually end with my mom's face in the palm of her hands. We have a tendency to play off each other to see who can be the most inappropriate.
The rest of them(my siblings) run the gamut of drug addicts, stay at home mom, successful and very well renowned chef, practically hill-billy carpenter, you name it =P. My one brother whose been battling drug addiction for 15 years now is very bi-polar, but other than that, they are all NT. I dont hear the end of the badgering about not having a girlfriend as right now, of the 8 of us, 3 are married, 2 are engaged, 1 is divorced, 1 would probably be married if it were legal and then me, going on 6 years with nothing =P. Add to that I'm half italian, half greek so if you're familiar with those heritages you can imagine that the first remark out of any relatives mouth is 'are you married yet?'.
So my parents can wait till a later post.
But how bout the rest of ya? Any interesting large families?
