Do you like budgies and other birds? I found I like them a lot. I wouldn't want to keep one in captivity (especially not without other birds as company) but I was taking care of my neighbors' budgie when they were on a vacation. I got along with the bird fairly well and I learned a lot. I also read books about birds. It was very interesting.

Now I watched a video on youtube that upset me quite a bit.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I077T1kXvzI&NR=1#
A woman who is supposed to be an expert is showing people 'how to handle' budgies. In that video she's grabbing the animal from behind, turning it around and hand-gesturing while she's holding the bird (so she's shaking it). Considering my experience, I'm hardly an expert, but I think the poor bird is most likely scared and uncomfortable. Does anyone here have experience with budgies?

Ohhh I love birds! I have two, one is a Green Cheek Conure named Norbert, the other is a Blue and Gold Macaw named Andy. They are the light of my life, and great companions. Budgies are wonderful too, they can be very sweet, and are much easier to care for than the larger birds. Have you ever seen the documentary "The Parrots of Telegraph Hill"?

I haven't but I'll check it out. :D The description on Amazon sounds really interesting, so thanks for the recommendation.

Send love to your birds. :)

YW! My library had it, and it was a wonderful documentary. If you would like a good laugh check out Snowball the dancing Cockatoo on YouTube, its too cute. Norbert and Andy said thank you! (literally, they both talk)

I'm not very fond of birds (probably has something to do with my unremembered time of being attacked by geese when I was younger.).
Although I think crows and ravens are pretty awesome.
Peregrine falcons too.

As for pet-birds... cockatoos are pretty birds, though I didn't like the two I know/knew. I hear gray parrots are pretty smart.
Parakeets are alright too, I suppose.

I know Snowball! So cute. Such a smart bird, and enjoying himself, too! His taste in music is questionable, though.

I love budgie noise. :D Only I probably couldn't bear it all the time. These feathery cuties seemingly NEVER shut up, haha. Doesn't keep me from liking them. But living with one was a bit stressful, even though it was only for 6 weeks.

I love budgies! That's partly because I have this thing about the word "budgie". It makes me happy. I like to visit them at the pet store (but they're called parakeets here), but I can't have any of my own because they'd terrify my cat. I've got a collection of little crocheted birds, though.

I find pet stores depressing. The cages are always too small. :(
