That's great that you are teaching yourself to speak French. I am attempting (slowly), to learn Portuguese. I used to speak Spanish, however I stopped using it, so, I only speak a little bit, but I'd like to become fluent, and I am contemplating using Rosetta Stone software. How are you teaching yourself? What tools are you utilizing, if any?

I don't know how one generally learns a language, I however think it should depend on your current knowledge. If you know the basics, can make simple sentences introducing yourself, describing happening facts, you should enlarge your vocabulary to beautify/detail your phrases. You could start reading online articles, newspapers, watch TV samples, or maybe even shows.
I believe watching subtitled content is a good way to learn as it will help you regarding pronunciation. Don't try to translate what you want to say word by word. The end result will not be satisfactory.
That's how I enhanced my English. While I'm not entirely happy about it, I think people can grasp the general idea of what I'm expressing.
Feel free to ask for my help as French is my mother tongue.

Thanks,Britte. I hope your learning Portuguese goes well. Fingers crossed :D
I have no specific tool or software except my own experience of self teaching English and etc. I know what it takes to learn a foreign language. French appears a bit more difficult to learn but I know I can. Not giving up is my only plan. I'm thinking that spending 20 minutes a day on French would lead me at least to somewhere at the end of this year. There's no way that 20 minutes get me to reach any remarkable achievement but I have no option of expending of given time at this point since my work requires a lot of time and energy from me.

Thank you very much!! I'm glad and relieved that I have two teachers already, you and DailyPoutine, which is more than enough. That was very kind of you. Even though I don't like to ask for help in general - fiercely independent personality stops me from asking for any helps, I'm sure there must be problems that I cannot solve via googling or on my own. I'll ask you for help. Thank you again. :D

You can remove all after the last 4 pronouns and add "se" between them and the verb.

à+noun=y
de+noun=en

Elle va à Paris. --> Elle y va.
Je viens de Paris. --> J'en viens.
