But can you pronounce Duinkerken the right way? 8)
For native English speakers Duinkerken may be a better shibboleth than Scheveningen, which was used in WW2 to identify German speakers.

interesting, i..probably could, after a few tries maybe.

i can do consonant clusters like strč prst skrz krk rather well, definitely not vowel heavy rødgrød med fløde or Höyryjyrä though.

I'm a native English speaker, I speak Russian fairly comfortably after majoring in it in college, and I want to study translation and become a translator of Russian. I understand a bit of Lithuanian, since I've read articles and listened to music and shows in that language frequently for a few years, but I can't speak it myself. I wish I could find a way to study it formally, because I know I would learn it so quickly after all my exposure to it.

My native language is English, I speak good Finnish and read and write it well, and I can speak some French and German and can read and write both languages well. Can still read some Russian, though have forgotten most of it.

I know English and Spanish. I also know "tourist level French". What I mean by that is, I can ask "How much does this baguette cost" and "I'll have some wine" or "Where is the toilet?"

And of course, the indispensable "Voulez vous coucher avec moi, c'est soir?"

I used to study German, but what I learned has almost completely faded from memory.

These days, this about sums it up:
