The Esperanto prefix ge- means 'both sexes or genders together'. The -j ending makes the plural. For example:
patro 'father', patrino 'mother' --> gepatroj 'parents'
junulo 'youngster, young one, young person' --> gejunuloj 'young men and women'
amiko 'friend' --> geamikoj 'friends, both male and female'
The Esperanto verb for 'to sleep' is dormi. Guess what gedormi means.
