I know there are quite a few people on here that like learning languages, speak a language besides English, or both, and thought it would be cool if they would record themselves speaking another language. :D

I recorded myself reading the first stanza of the poem The Owl and the Pussycat, translated into Basque. I'll record more in Basque or other languages if anyone likes this thread.

Quote:
Hontza eta Katutxoa itsasoratu egin ziren
Ilar koloreko txalupa berde polit batean,
Ezti pixka bat eta diru nahikoa hartu zuten,
bost librako billete batean bildurik.
Hontzak zerura egin zuen so.
Eta gitarra baten doinuaz abestu egin zuen,
“Oh, Katutxo ederra! Oh Katutxo maitea!
Zein ederra zaren!
Zaren!
Zaren!
Zein ederra zaren zu!

And in English:
Quote:
The Owl and the Pussycat went to sea
In a beautiful pea-green boat,
They took some honey, and plenty of money,
Wrapped up in a five pound note.
The Owl looked up to the sky,
And sang to the sound of a guitar,
“O lovely Pússy! O Pússy my love,
How beautiful you are,
You are,
You are!
How beautiful you are!

Your pronunciation is great; I get told that, too, when I speak another language. Maybe it has something to do with natural attention to detail... I feel like I pick up every little bit of word and really try to imitate the sounds as well as I can... Meh.

I'll probably record myself in English, German, and Japanese... eventually. Probably all tomorrow (5/1.)
For Japanese, I may say some stuff about myself, then read a bit out of a ドラえもん (Doraemon) manga book. (0点編、家出編) (0 Ten-hen, iede-hen).
For English, I'll probably say random crap and read out of a book or something.
For German, the same.
:P

Thanks. Yeah, it's always been quite easy for me too to learn new sounds and speak with a good accent. Although I'm not completely happy with my Basque accent yet. :P I used to have a good German accent, but probably not so much anymore. Maybe I'll record myself trying to speak some German, and you can judge how good it is.

Sweet, those shall be fun to listen too. Maybe I'll record more Basque, or maybe Irish/Scottish Gaelic, Norwegian, or Latin or something.

If you listen to my recording closely, you can hear my dog chewing food in the background.

Several hours ago I thought that people could sing songs too. That would be cool.

What Norwegian music do you like? I love Erik og Kriss. :D

I tried to search for norwegian song, and all i could fond was not in Bokmål.
So now i'm triyng to learn norwegian using disney's movie songs
I listen to Midnattsol (somethimes they sing in norwegian, but it seems they sing in Nynorsk, and i'm interested to learn Bokmål)

Go on youtube, look up Vegerun101 in the search bar, and I have 2 songs that I sign: Splish splash and testing 1 2 3 (though the splash splash has a better recording quality).

Late as hell, but here's some impromptu basic Japanese... introducing myself, basically, with random details. I'll do German soon.

... And German.

I hadn't spoken it/been exposed to auditory German in 5 or 6 weeks before doing this, so it's understandably American-sounding. :P

Maybe just a bit. Good recordings though. You're right, you do have a good accent in each (except German partly, as accordingly explained). Nevertheless, I enjoyed them, even if they were short.

Maybe I'll do another in Basque, now that I'm finally studying it again. It would be fun to make a recording in Faeroese too.
