I took a year of Mandarin and I'm going to start studying it again. My brother is Taiwanese and I'm fascinated with China. I also like Hakkanese which is another chinese language.

I took Chinese I last year... I wish they went into it a lot more! It was such an easy class since they didn't go over much. Of course, there's the Chinese characters in addition to the regular language stuff like grammar, which should take more time. Still, I passed with a 100%... I wanted to learn more than the basics. xD

Sometime during college I'm going to take either Chinese or Japanese course. Both are pretty cool, and they share a lot of common characters, with a few having similar pronunciations (such as 三(san) 林(rin, lin) 水(sui, shui) 師(shi)). Foreign Languages are another obsession for me, though not as much lately.

I'm fascinated with the Chinese language, Chinese culture, and the history of China.
I much prefer the look of a string of Chinese characters, over tons Roman characters. I wish European languages had something more interesting. XD

I'm fascinated with all languages, Chinese being one of them.

Here is a sentence in a more simplified version of Chinese via Babel Fish.

为什么是这台计算机很慢的?

Now in more traditional Chinese...

為什麼是這臺計算機很慢的?

I've been trying to learn Chinese on my own for the past few years, not great at it yet - but hopefully will be one day :D

我喜欢中国,虽然我不可能适当地发音在汉语语言的一个字符。

Lol, yeah. I forgot all about this thread.
I didn't really know any Mandarin at that point, hence the translator; I know some basic Mandarin now. I can type what I know with the hanzi, but my computer isn't letting me at the moment. I know stuff like, "Ni hao, ni hao ma?" "Wo hen hao. Ni ne?" "Wo hen hao." Or something. Then "Wo shi mei guo ren. Wo bu shi zhongguo ren." Stuff like that; really basic. And I'm learning to read/write Simplified.
