How often does everyone have to change a tampon on the heaviest days (Days 1-3)? I always wondered if anyone had to change every 1-2 hours (with a Super Plus tampon) like I do. I don't know what I'd do if I had a job working at a cash register or somewhere I only got breaks every 4 hours or so. I wouldn't be able to work on those days. I'm 35 years old now, but I've been like this for as long as I can remember. I almost bled to death when I first got my period again after the birth of my last child. It was solid bleeding for months, but the doctors wouldn't believe me, until I ended up in the emergency room dehydrated and anemic. I almost had to have a blood transfusion.

Have you found any brand of tampons to be better than others? I always use Tampax Pearl. I just can't figure out the OB tampons without applicators.

As someone who has PCOS, the side effects are not fun to deal with (weight gain, facial hair, acne), but it's so worth not having a period.

I've always hated the way tampons feel, and don't wear them. I've also evened out more since I stopped using store-bought pads, and switched to cloth - which a lot of people find really gross, but I have a cleaning and wearing system that works.

I have a 4 day period, 1 day light, second day REALLY heavy, 3rd day spotting, 4th day light again.

I've gotten really into alternative medicine - I have to recommend Vitex to anyone here looking to even out hormones, and it helps with PMS and cramps - but it tastes nasty! I take it a week before my period should start. My sweetie takes Vitex three weeks out of the month, because she had a bleeding problem that wouldn't stop due to estrogen dominance - which is only made worse by birth control pills. I think they almost killed her before I took it upon myself to research the problem and solution.

I have a "barely period"

It only lasts 2-3 days, and it's very very light. In fact the flow stops when I sleep or get in cold water....so over night I can just wear a little panty liner, and I can go swimming with nothing at all.

My periods have been unpredictable for the duration of my life. They were very heavy whenever I started my period at 11 years old. When I was 13, my doctor put me on birth control to give me lighter periods and it worked for a while. When I had to stop taking them when I was around 15, my periods were insane. I could go six months without having one and then having one that lasted two months, or have a period every two weeks.
When I'm not on birth control, they can get pretty bad. It seems when I have less bleeding, the cramps are more painful. But whenever I bleed more, I have light or no cramps at all. Some of my bad cramps hurt me so much I'd have diarrhea all day or I'd collapse on the bathroom floor sobbing.

Thank goodness for the invention of tampons. You can plug it up and be on your merry way. I can't stand the feeling of being wet and sticky down there. It's disgusting.
