I couldn't find one so I wanted to create a thread where any girls/women can just have either a moan about PMT or period issues, a bit of a sob or however it affects you. I know there is the Haven but I personally felt uncomfortable writing about this kind of thing in there and so I wondered if others may feel alike.

This should be a place we should be able to say how we feel and not be judged or feel embarrased if you just feel a bit all over the place.

Ok so I will start off; Well it started today and now the cramps have begun which I know will probably last for most of the week now off and on and may disrupt my already bad sleep, and I am just generally feeling really tired and seemingly even more anxious than usual.

So anyone else, please feel free to use this thread to vent!

Mine started today too, just posted a few replies in a few menstrual threads. For me after the first two days the worst is over. How does it usually go for you?

Hello whiterat. :)

Well mine tends to be quite bad for the first 5 days and will usually last a week. I tend to use ibuprofen which I don't like doing but if I don't get on top of the pain it can sometimes make me very unwell, on the verge of fainting and suchlike.

I did try a TENS machine for the pain but I am not sure if had much affect. Have you found anything that particularly helps for you?

I take menstrual Panadol.

In Singapore it's also common for people to use medicated oil to relieve pain (such as headache, menstrual cramps) besides using painkillers. It has the same active ingredient as muscle rubs, and also helps to relieve bloating. Normally I rub it below my stomach, where it usually hurts.

I've been on extended-cycle oral contraceptives for about four years now. This means I only get a period every three months. I'm so glad I did this because with my anxiety problems, I can't handle having one every month. Even though my periods are lighter because of the pill, I still don't tolerate the physical symptoms well...cramps, etc. Sometimes, my periods are even painful and I have a very low tolerance to pain.

My PMS/PMT symptoms are very odd. In the months I don't have the emotional and mental symptoms before my period starts I get the worst cramps ever. Then when I do have the emotional and mental symptoms my periods are 100% pain free. *shrugs shoulders*

I just got my first period on 9/11, my first period since March 2010. My right leg was crampy because of my period. It wasn't heavy bleeding at all and it just ended a few days later. I was happy when I didn't have a period but not that it came back, so did my fetish.

I take something for my menstrual cramps. It can be aspirin or Motrin, whatever my husband has.

I don't care about the physical pain of having a period but the emotional week leading up to it is horrible. I am truly mean and hatefull during that time. I can be so cruel and I feel completely justified in all of my complaints, emotionally it wreaks havoc on my relationship. The pain is easy to deal with but the physical aspect of bleeding and the feminine hygiene products and all that tangible stuff is horrifying and humiliating to me. I would rather just have agonizing pain and nothing else. It's mortifying.

I only have them every three months now (on the pill) but even so I still get severe PMS and cramps when I do get them. That's why I was put on the pill. My behaviour, which can be erratic at the best of times, usually gets ten times worse when I am due. I have somehow managed to kick my foot through a wall out of pure frustration (the wall must have been rubbish because I didn't even have a shoe on!). But now, on day one of the actual period bit all I can say is:

UUUUUUUUUUUGH!! !! I WANNA PAINKILLA!! !!

I usually get one or the other too. This last time though was severely bad in both areas. I swear I have PMDD. This time I felt weird new stuff though, like I sweating all the time, it was gross.

I always get wicked cramps and heavy flow on the first few days. Then it doesn't really bother me after that, other than having to deal with being paranoid that it's going to like overflow or something onto my underwear and onto my pants and onto whatever I'm sitting on.

The cramps are the worst part, though.
Meds don't really help. I mean, they 'take the edge off,' a phrase that I've never quite understood, either there's pain or there isn't, but they don't make the pain go away.
I usually use a heating pad on high and it helps. And for some reason it works better when I'm under the covers.

It all seems to change depending on my meds. I was on the pill for years and never had PMS, then as soon as I started taking concerta for ADD it all went haywire. Every month is different and I've tried a bunch of different bc pills to mitigate this. The one I'm on now (tri-cyclen) is the best compromise I could find. Marvelon was the best, but every month I would get killer migraines. I still do on Tri cyclen, but not quite as bad. But they can go on for days. I have one now. I just want to smash my head into my laptop. Arrgh...

I also get insomnia. Sometimes it starts halfway through the month. And sometimes I get crazy angry and irritable. Or depressed. Or I just get really stupid. Forgetting things, not being able to come up with the words I'm trying to say, totally distracted by every little thing, paranoia, the list goes on..

Cramps seem to be a lesser issue. But I do get aches and pains all over.

To top it all off, I'm on an anti-depressant and that has it's own wonderful effect on my cycle.. I get night sweats and crazy (sometimes really scary) dreams. Good times!

Just dosed myself up on ibuprofen. It seems to be taking affect which is a relief. I find it interesting that some people have said they find heat works, personally I can't stand anything on my stomach (in general) let alone anything hot, is anyone else like this?
