What age did you start your periods?

Sometime after I turned 12 or 13. My mother and I had the "talk" before then. Then after that in grade 6 the teachers had all the girls in my class go and watch what they called a "girls only" film, but I was too scared and started bawling and crying. I did read the booklets they gave us to take home, however. One of the booklets was titled "Growing Up, a Wonderful Experience", and it showed a girl on a hill with her arms up towards the heavens with sunbeams. Shhyeah, riiight.

13 years old.

I started mine a month after my 10th birthday.

I started mine towards the end of Year 9 - so I was 13, nearlly 14.

I started mine the summer before high school when I was 14. I was afraid to use tampons for a little while

Just before I turned 16.

11 and a half. I was excited about it because I felt grown up, but when I told my mom she acted like it was terrible.

Only a few months after turning 9.

I didn't really get to be a child. I had breasts at 7 and I don't mean 'obese kid breasts' I mean really puberty-induced breasts.

I usually take medroxyprogesterone every 10-12 weeks to eliminate menstruation...and libido. Fertility and libido seem like illogical things to maintain when mating is pretty much out of the question.

I was 14, nearly 15. I expected it to come sooner cos my breasts had been growing since I was 10.

Approximately 2 months before I turned 11.

Nearly 11.

Mine was my 12th birthday present... certainly one I'll never forget.

I was eleven, I was at an autism thing at an amusement park (it was some weird awareness thing, but I was allowed to have fun with the other kids). I found out when I got home, I hated it, I was so embarrassed, I cried. Next day my sheets were all red and wet, which taught me about the existence of extra large night pads. I went on the pill a few months later because I would almost bleed to death for two weeks in a row, and I always leaked, even when wearing night pads during the day and changing them every half hour or so (yes it was severe). I'm still on the pill because of that.

I was thirteen and one half. It was an hour before a horse-back-riding lesson. True to Jewish tradition, my mother slapped me across the face and then forced me to call all of my relatives to tell them the big news.
