I met 4 at school/college, 8 in coffee shops,, 4 through other friends, 1 at a party, 3 over the phone (dating thing, done for fun), 1 at a pagan store, 1 at work, 1 at a concert, 1 online (not a dating site).

Most of them approached me, but I made the first move with my second and fifth boyfriends and my husband. I never found it that difficult to flirt, for some reason, even though I find pretty much every other social interaction daunting. I guess it's because I pretty much assume I know what they want and it's just a matter of signaling my interest, or something. Usually when I like someone I find it easier to talk to them than to others, anyway.

I voted one. Technically, I did kiss a boy in Kindergarten, but given the context of this thread, I hardly think I should count that.

I am thankful to have met my beloved at age 19 and to have been with only him. Few people could tolerate all my quirks, but he does, and even likes most of them. :D

Anyway, we met online through a mutual friend who noticed we lived in the same state and had some things in common, and we just talked and went from there.

Went out with a guy for about a year before I decided relationships weren't my thing and broke it off. He had many of the same interests as me, and mostly we just talked. In the entire year we only kissed once, which was pretty awesome of him. He's still a good friend of mine.

I voted 4.
When I was 15, I fall in love with one boy, but it was just platonic. Anyway, it doesn´t matter, because now, when I am older, I know, he is the best person I ever met. He fall in love with me too. We met by mystake on icq.
Next boy I met on last.fm, when I was 17. We didn´t love each other, it was just about sex.
Once, on a party, I kissed with my very good schoolmate, but we was very drunk and I didn´t want relationship "friends with benefits style", so we are just friends.
And last one is my friend...my ex-classmate from high school. We know each other very well for 6 years. She is my best girl friend and we´ve done a lot of... things. But now she has a boyfriend, so we must let it go on...

#1, I stayed with him for four months (too long if you ask me). He approached me after valentines day at high school when he noticed that I did not have a date (I was 15 almost 16 at the time). The farthest I got with this one was a makeout. Even though he was my first kiss, I never knew someone could be such a terrible kisser. And before someone comes down on me saying that I should not judge someone, let me remind you that he a) conked his teeth into mine which hurt worse because I had braces b) sucked and slobbered on my face because he had his mouth open wide and chewed on my lips c) rammed his tongue in the back of my throat initiating a bad gag reflex d) craned my neck backwards, thereby causing me pain e) grabbed my butt without asking and f) stepped on my feet while doing so. I never knew so many horrible things could go on in a kiss all at once. Even my first kiss, and I knew there was better out there than this. Dude seemed to have peter pan syndrome after his maturity development arrested when his dad had him selling drugs at a young age in an other state which caused him to be shipped off to live with his grandma in my state. I also never knew that someone could smoke so much weed either.

#2 approached me as well. I stayed out of relationships for about a year after #1, when I went to the most common music camp in my area in the summer of '01. As I was approaching the cafeteria walking across the street, #2 came up to me and started making comments about my physical appearance. I was befuddled at how someone could be so attracted to me. Farthest I got with this one was makeout as well but not before boys from the basketball camp in the next dorm over were staring and giggling at us. He seemed a bit more ashamed of himself in some ways, and was a very closed type kisser, I think because he was self-conscious because he was quitting smoking at the time. In the end I concluded that this one seemed to have control issues, and I realized that aside from having anorexia, adding someone controlling to the mix on top of it was not going to help me in any way. He also tried so hard to change me. He told me that I should like "real music" like his favorite bands godsmack and pantera instead of me being the melodic pop music lover that I am. He tried so hard to make me compatible with him, but we just weren't. He was convinced that I should be as in love with baseball and cellular technology as he was. In the end, it only lasted a week. Then when I thought he was out of my hair from his inability to call me and communicate, I shrugged it off. He called me back a month later asking me if I was still his girlfriend. UHHHH? I think he was just desperate. And only HE could mistaken sitting in the balcony for a better audio experience, for wanting to make out instead of enjoying music ensembles playing. I was sitting there because the acoustics in that place was total rubbish, anything under mezzoforte was rendered inaudible (it was that bad). Guys, the worst thing you could do in this situation, is lean over while I'm intently listening to a brass ensemble and whisper in my ear about how you're staring down my shirt at my microboobles and demand that I "put my hand on your mack-daddy" (his exact words minus the my-your substitution). Nothing makes me want to take anyone less seriously than a bonehead statement like that.

#3 I approached myself. We originally met, on a school field trip to the local art museum. We were both in art classes but the two different ones that were going on this field trip. He drifted to the front of his class, I drifted to the back, and we met in the middle. Fate had a sense of humor, as one of the morons from his class took my seat on the bus (there were two buses, one for each class) so I had to ride back with his class. And I ended up sitting next to him. We had an awesome conversation, and I forgot to ask him his name. Again I would see him when school resumed in the fall and I re-met him on the same day moronic #2 called my house to ask if I was "still his girlfriend". I was like "that's ok, I'm interested in someone else now" Click. #2 hung up on me. I discovered that I had the same lunch shifts and a math class with #3. I couldn't just say friends with #3 for that long. I wrote him a letter explaining my feelings and he returned the interest just to see where it would go. It proved well, as 11 years later we are still together (to date he's been my only sexual partner-- we gave our virginities to each other). I just couldn't let this one get by me, after seeing different guys I've been interested in not make moves so I figured to make moves myself before this one tried to slip away out of my sight.

I met my husband when I was 16, so there wasn't really a lot of time for romantic relationships before him. When I was 16, I went out with a boy twice and we kissed a bit, soon after that, I went out with another boy for 6 weeks and there was kissing. They were both boys, so no actual going out to restaurants, etc, nothing grown-up. Then I met my husband. He was 21 and had much more of an idea about how to date someone. This was my first proper romantic experience, I'd say.

God, I'm only seventeen. I thought everyones would b 10+ too.

I don't think you should have done this as a poll. I just wanted to say that "where do you meet people?" question would have been fine.

Even aspies can feel ashamed cause they think they have had too many boyfriends. (ahem opening old wounds).

As for the 15% I hope some of you are still teens. Otherwise the name "slut" reopens in my mind. :(

The first guy i dated i didn't know what a girl supposed, i only knew what a guy supposed to do. I wish i didn't suck at flirting to someone in person but i can do flirting online 8O
So yeah i haven't had a real bf before. Only guys that stopped talking to me >.<

I'm only in my first 'real' relationship now, however we have been together four years on January 3rd. We met online, and then met in real life. Urm I guess that was mutual approaching as we walked towards each other? I'm a bit unsure :/ I've done everything on the list given with this one lol :)

according to the listed criteria much more than 10+ but I would not call all of those experiences romantic experiences as I think you need to experience some form of mental/emotional attachment for it to be romantic. Some of the experiences happened just becuase I was curious. In terms of who I've actually had feelings for only 5 I would count. I've also had romantic experiences with people who I haven't actually physically touched. (i.e intense mutual flirting that doesn't come to anything)

In terms of relationships I've always done the asking as I guess I'm more attracted to shy people who would probably lack the courage. Mostly guys, but I did have a girlfriend at one point. All of them I've met offline through work, friends parties, university. There is one guy I really like at the moment but I'm finding it difficult to read him - i think he is flirting with me and that he likes me but not sure. I wonder when I will get the courage to ask him out becuase i much prefer him to the guys Ive seen on the online dating sites thats for sure.

three. the first two were with girls online. I wound up meeting the first girl in person after six months of being in a relationship but we broke up shortly after. the second girl I never met in person. it was just a romantic relationship with unreciprocated sexual desires from me. the third is my current relationship with a man that has been an in-person relationship the entire time.

I voted 3 but it should have been 4 after I read your definition. I didn't love that dude, though although he was pretty cute so I touched him a lot. I met DH at 22 and never dated another person after. Sometimes I feel rather inexperienced, but most of the time I'm glad that I exited the dating pool so quickly.

I've had one proper "relationship", but that was mostly due to outside pressure to "act normal" and start dating. I've been physically involved with a few people, mostly at parties and it was rarely fully consensual on my part. I don't know, I've always felt like there were more interesting, less confusing things to do than all this complicated "romantic" stuff.

I guess I've had two romantic experiences. The first one was in high school. I asked the guy to a school dance and went on a few dates after that. He was really shy, and freaked out about getting into a relationship, so it didn't work out in the end. Neither of us had a clue about anything because he was 16 and I was barely 17. I was devastated by it for a while, but life goes on.

The second guy I dated, was when I was about to start college. I met him through a friend of my mom's. I went out with him a few times and we ended up kissing. I still talk to him once in a while, but it's casual dating. I don't really know if I want a committed relationship right now.
