Hi Ladies,

Ok so this is the only forum where I can post this haha, but is anyone extra sensitive "down there"? I've never had sexual intercourse before, nor have I ever had an STD or even a yeast infection. In other words I keep myself healthy.

However, I have never been able to use a tampon, only because I have never been able to full insert anything inside myself, for fear of pain. (hope this is not tmi)

I only ask because someday hopefully soon, I will be sexually active, and I need to have this issue sorted out before then

Any advice?

Many women find tampons easier to use after they become sexually active.

You have just triggered memories from 45 years ago that I probably never would have ever thought of were it not for your post. lol I don't know if this is your problem. but when I first tried tampons they pinched and tugged and hurt. Someone suggested that I use a little vaseline on the tip and then it would slide right in. It did. Anything put 'in there" will hurt if you're not lubricated. Also, if a tampon is not inserted deeply enough [which is not real deep] or at an incorrect angle, it will pinch and hurt. If your hymen is fairly low that could also cause pain when something is inserted. Your doctor could slit your hymen in a super simple procedure [ you don't want that pain and blood your first time anyway]

Tampons aren't the most comfortable thing to put in there, that's for certain. My first few times wearing tampons I couldn't wait to tear them out...didn't put it in far enough or angle wrong or whatever.

Have you tried just your finger? Much better. Also with the lube...if you aren't wet (either from yourself or lube) when you try to have intercourse, it's not going to feel very nice for either of you.

I would use the smallest possible tampon, just to get over the fear. If you're not too squeamish, OB makes a little one with no applicator. But something small so you feel less intimidated. And try not to think about the next step to come while you're doing it, just this step or better, something pleasant and relaxing.

Also maybe motivate yourself with something immediate, like giving your skin a short break from rubbing against a pad since you're sensitive anyway, that may help, too.

I really don't think you'll find it uncomfortable once in place. Remember this is really small.

Like a child putting her thumb in her mouth, not like the dentist cramming the child's mouth open with an appliance till it hurts.

Nature did not make us to supplement our own bodies with things to make us socially correct.
Although as a male, I wouldn't want a female that didn't take care of her self as well.

I use to use tampons but stopped a few years ago, I had issues with my girl parts and the tampon got harder to insert correctly. I haven't tried again since my issues straightened themselves out.

Back when I first started using tampons I had no problem with them and I was a virgin. I would recommend using the appropriate size for your flow. And stick with panty liners on super light days. I found if you don't have enough menstrual fluid it will absorb other fluids down there and be difficult to remove.

As for sex make sure you have lots of foreplay and lubricant handy just in case. DO NOT USE PETROLEUM JELLY with condoms. Petroleum products, Vasoline, hand creams, etc, break down latex. I think that is probably the main culprit when condoms break. Use an appropriate silicon or water based lubricant like KY Jelly or Astroglide.

Personally I didn't find losing my virginity to be painful. Mildly uncomfortable, but not painful. But my hymen may not have been fully intact, I have heard horse back riding can tear it and I rode horses when I was young.

In order to overcome fear, I at least chose to confront it in various ways.
Doing research and finding things out or ask for opinions is very helpful but can also spook you out.

I believe it's important that you know one thing: every body is unique almost, except for the twins I think The point is you have to find out things about your body yourself in order to be prepared to eventually be sexually active as you wish.
If you're scared of pain when you're alone you could be hell scared near a man who wants to get involved with you. That's what I think at least.

Don't know what to say about pain with sex. I had pain and sometimes still have it depending on the position but I like sex and change positions when I need to. Lubrication is very important. And do what makes you comfortable.
I can't just use pads though unfortunately. Heavy flow. I don't use tampons, I use a moon cup, much better than a tampon. Bit fiddly but once I learnt to fit it in (you have to fold it over), I've never used tampons again.

I am sexually active, and have had children. I still find tampons uncomfortable, but they're a necessary evil for me.

My only advice is to relax as much as you're able, pertaining to feminine hygiene or intimacy..

I can't even wear a tampon because it hurts and feels so uncomfortable. I've been known to go swimming on my period without anything than not putting a tampon on.

I hate tampons they hurt and are uncomfortable.

Not in a public pool, I hope. That would be selfish and disgusting.
