Agreed, and many good points have been brought up here. Sexism is an unfortunate reality not just within this community, but throughout the general global population. And there are no real answers. Sure, we all would wish to 'punish' people who are cruel and callous in this world, or the Wrong Planet microcosm, but then who would be left? And does punishment 'solve' the moral dilemma of any sexist? Unfortunately, there are no easy solutions.

Instead, the only way we all can address sexism (or any injustice) is through education, to be made consciously aware, to listen to each other respectfully. And for each to set a good example.

Sorry, checking back in here. What you say above is wellmeant, I'm sure, but it's wrong. All that's needed is a clear moderation policy. If people want to be sexist and horrible in the privacy of their own skulls, that's their business, but polluting a public place with it is not.

Yeah, and that's a good point.....most people are good intentioned. I can honestly assert that Aspies are likely the kindest, most caring people that I have encountered. In any place, there are 'bad apples' that can really hurt. Aspies have strong personalities and can come across harshly, especially if we do not have a strong grasp on complex emotions.

" Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

And no one here has never made any generalisations about the opposite sex right?

Laughable bunch of people.

Can I have ONE single person that has never spoken about the opposite sex? Just one please.

Starvingartist, you've never ever said anything about guys right?

Bunch of hypocrites.

Are you serious?

Yes, that's considered sexism everywhere except among collections of angry men and 14-year-old boys who alternate between blowing-things-up fantasies and rape fantasies.

If moderators mod for sexism, they'll do it equal-opportunity. I guarantee, though, that there'll be more misogynist posts modded than misandrist, just because there are always more of the former.

That's quite a decent synopsis, CubeDemon.

I quite respect what you did.

I agree: we should take morality, ethics, subjective views, objective views--the 'tapestry" of impressions--seriously.

We should employ all these devices in the formulation of opinion.

In reality, it doesn't happen that way, alas. In microcosm or macrocosm. It only happens in a Utopia.

However, I don't see why we can't aspire to reach Utopian heights. while acknowledging that humans are, after all, human.

We should be virtuous instructors to ourselves and to others, not vitriolic, firebrand, soapbox speakers.

I always wish thatsoapbox speakers would fall off their soapbox and wallow in the mud (yep, vitriolic of me LOL, and not in keeping with the needed tone of this discussion).

That's not the point, though. The point is whether sexist remarks are moderated or not. "Just ignore [member XYZ]" is not an adequate response.

Bill, the problem is you're lumping all women into one lump sum. Women have different beliefs, thoughts, ideas, etc. There are different types of women around the world so your problem is you're making generalizations that are weak.

Thanks!

Edited to Add: I have no one to respond to the post yet. I wonder why that is. In fact, there are posts I make but no one seems to respond to. I wonder why.

When you're making a hasty generalization about a group of people. In this case it is women and the word is sexism. If you have a complaint about a particular woman on here then discuss it.

They're one and the same because again you're lumping a whole group of people as having negative characteristics x, y, and z. In this case it is women and it is called sexism.
