See, with me people don't really say I'm like a man, but more like an old lady. (I am eighteen). I like clothes, but I hate showing skin and I hate shopping at places other people my age shop(Hollister, American Eagle, ect.). I like to wear understated, mature professional looking clothing like Liz Claiborne, Dress Barn, ect. As far as makeup goes, I usually wear a suttle red lipstick, some almost-invisable eyeshadow, and mascara. I certainly do not look like your average 18 year old. I don't leave the house often, but when I do, this is what I wear. But around the house, I just wear what is comfortable, I don't care then.

I agree with you there, I hate wearing clothes with letters on them.

I would like to, but I don't like standing out. I don't like it when men start assuming I'm trying to catch their eye and start commenting on my appearance, which happens. I wish I felt comfortable, because I love goth makeup, but I wear the most minimal makeup or a bare face.

I don't go all out on my makeup with eyeshadow, blush, lipstick but i do wear make-up almost every day if I go out (to school, shopping, where ever). Just a bit of eyeliner, mascara, and light powder... i'd skip the powder but i have very bad hyperpigmentation that I cant get rid of!? :(

put on make up almost daily.
Wear decent clothing some days and plain ol' tshirt jeans or sweats other days.
BUT have the cognition of a male...love cars, motorcycles, sports, beer...

I like wearing makeup. How much I wear depends on where I'm going. Every day is just lipstick. Going out to dinner, on a date, concert, whatever I wear it all. But I like to wear it so that it compliments my features and doesn't look like I'm wearing a lot. It all depends on my mood.

I don't wear lipstick because I can't. It causes the skin on my lips to peel within an hour. While I don't like the "taste" of lipstick, I'd wear it if it weren't for this.

I hate foundation, but I really like eye makeup.

I don't wear any make-up or wear skirts or dresses, because I feel that makeup makes me look like a clown and I feel like a doll, pretty on the outside and hollow on the inside, when I dress up.

Yes, I know what you mean about that 'doll' feeling. I have a hard time about this, because I feel ugly and like I'm not presentable if I don't pay attention to clothes and makeup. But when I do, I feel like a doll and like the effort is being misinterpreted, inviting attention I don't want.

So I just try to be really neat and clean, and groomed in a low key way. That's my version of attractive. But I hate how there seems to be an expectation from some people that women will wear lipstick and heels. I've been asked if I'm a lesbian before, pretty much because I don't. I thought most of those stereotypes had died out.

I'm trying to learn more about makeup and such because it's something to talk about with hairdressers, female aquaintances etc,
that isn't my personal life. I tend to wear concealer every day because of problem skin, otherwise I'd go out in only sunscreen.
Maybe a bit of eye makeup when I see a friend, or a muted lipstick when I'm pale from being tired.

I wear no lipstick and make up. I hate it.

I only tend to wear lipstick or eyeliner... and even then, rarely. I'm one of the guys really. I go to the pub, watch sports (Formula 1 mostly), build model airplanes, play video games and things like that. I don't care about fashion really.

Hmm. I think we need a "none of the above" ro "sometimes, yes/ sometimes, no" category. Sometimes I wear full make-up every day for weeks at a time, then one day I'll just stop wearing it at all for months. It's not a conscious decision, I just forget about it for a while. Same thing with jewelry.

Regards,

Patricia

Bare Minerals is grand, especially if you buy a refillable powder brush that you fill at the bottom so you don't have to make a powdery mess everywhere when you put it on. I can never quite seem to get rid of my acne completely so it's a lifesaver.
Also I have about a billion Burt's Bees lip products and several Rimmel lip glosses.
Lipstick is terrabad. :eew: Except for MAC brand, which is nice and creamy but gets everywhere so it's ultimately pointless.
I don't put anything on my eyes, since they are easily irritated and I like lip stuff better anyway.

I won't leave the house without at least a little make up.
But that's simply because I look hideous otherwise.

I think I was more male-brained, certainly said so in a quiz I took a couple of years ago.

I wear a little when I go out now but I never bothered much before I got into being a female.

Over the last five years I have actively tried to make more of my female side by making myself wear skirts sometimes and wearing a little make up and a piece of jewellery every day whether I am staying in or going out. I always wear a little perfume and I have nearly always worn earrings to keep my ears pierced, though I doubt the holes would close now since they have been pierced for maybe 35 years :D

I wear make up when I can be bothered. I'm very pale and sometimes I can look a bit sickly without make up.

I'm very pale too. Burt's bees lip balms are good because they give you a little bit of pink so you don't look dead, but they're not attention drawing or cakey like lipstick. I bought one.

I don't like skirts much now. Only if I'm roasting in summer, otherwise pants are my favourite all the way.

I've been trying to fit in with other women a little bit because I don't like being stared at like I'm a grub or asked if I'm gay because I'm not blatantly trying to look feminine. I've bought new shoes that aren't broken, I'm thinking about getting a more styled haircut, I'll wear a dab of concealer or a little mascara etc but it's so much work for a tomboy like me. You'd have to think about it and preen all the time.

And since I've been wearing my posher coat, a little make up, new shoes, I've been feeling weird in it. Does anybody else feel selfconcious or overdressed when they make a conscious effort to scrub up and look 'feminine'?
I guess I'm still trying to find a balance where I feel comfortable.
