I was 10 when I started mine. I felt that I was being punished for wanting to be a boy. That's when my childhood dream ended. I used to feel suicidal the week before my period, until I was put on antidepressants.

I was 16 y/o. Back in the dark ages, girls were older when they got their periods, around age 14, but I was still quite late.

11 years - and the exact date was January, 11 (or 1/11). Almost magical, innit?

10 and a half. It was really embarrassing being one of the only kids to have started in primary school.

I started at the age of ten years and six months. Like many other users here who started early, I felt a lot of embarrassment about being the only girl in my class who had to deal with periods.

Most people here started around 12-14, which is the average stage. That proves that Aspie girls do develop the same as NT girls. Well, every girl is different anyway, but just saying.

I read somewhere that girls are starting earlier now, like at 10-11. Don't know what the scientific explanation behind that is.

I heard somewhere that the average age of starting periods is 12.5 or something like that, so 12-14 is still in the typical range. 10-11 is in the younger range in starting periods. I don't believe that Aspie girls develop any faster or slower than NTs. Girls are starting younger in developed countries because of better nutrition and obesity. Usually girls who are overweight start earlier, but this isn't always the case. Genetics make a difference as well.

I know, but there's been endless threads on WP in the past claiming that Aspie girls develop quicker or slower than average girls. I chose not to believe it, but I still chose to prove that it's not true.

14 and a half. The other girls at school started around 11-12, my sister 3 years younger started a year after I did. I was very late. But I had stopped growing for about 18 months when I was 10, so I was delayed in all physical ways.

(And to be honest, my periods were such a nightmare from day 1 that I wondered why I'd been so desperate to get them!)
