This is not a thread about misandry.

Sorry, but I have to disagree
They are both types of misanthropy and furthermore they are analogue opposites of each other.

These are human hating behaviours which are parallel; surely this can inform a debate about misogyny?

Yippy is totally right, this thread is about misogyny.
If you want to discuss misandry, create a thread in the men's forum! :p ;)

Again, men attempting to hijack a thread about a women's issue and turn it into a discussion of themselves and their needs. And in a women's forum, no less.

It is the equivalent of visiting a thread about black history, and saying, "What about white history? That's history, too!"

Sorry to leave you fallen flat. My point is that the above is not funny unless the joke is that men are similar to chimps. I think this kind of comment lowers the caliber of the site and should be frowned upon. At the moment this sort of talk against women is accepted as, perhaps, inevitable. To me this is insulting to men. That their experiences are so trying that they have to spread bile on the internet to make themselves feel better. Can't they do this on some 4chan site?

But I was just saying an observable fact there; most AS women will all eventually have bfs/husbands - and that's not an attack nor an insult; you should be thankful for this blessing; at least in the love aspect of life :p.

So now you are able to bestow blessings. Wow. Btw, where did you observe this "fact?" Or do you just know?

I think you're reading too much into that joke, the punchline isn't all women are rabid chimps and I'm not sure where you're getting that. Calling animal control on an controlling boyfriend or girlfriend is a kind of funny premise but remember we're not professional comedians here either. Jokes are allowed at the expense of women just as they are men right?

I think everybody needs a thicker skin, you can't kid proof the world and completely sanitize it of all that offends you with political correctness. Free and open discussion shouldn't be stifled, people shouldn't have to walk around on egg shells all the time and if you force them to then resentment which leads to backlash will only be natural. There are lines that shouldn't be crossed obviously but usually occurs when somebody feels to need to personally attack someone.

i think she was banned in total 35 times at least.

Can anyone be sure that said troll is female in the first place?

It's called "Misandry". However, some misandronistas will deny that misandry is real, and call it "just stating the facts" instead.

Strange how it seems that the most vocal victims of hate speech are themselves hate-filled and bigoted.

Sorry Fnord apparently we cannot talk about misandry and must start a new thread.
Nevermind eh.

The attitude that calls me a "hijacker" of a discussion about hate of women for my own purposes is exactly the attitude that has turned a lot of men away from feminism.
I actually want to be a part of that debate because I care and want to change the misogyny in the world (read some of my other posts where I commonly discuss my views on institutional sexism).

I suppose to be fair on a womens forum I should ask permission.
Please can I take part in this debate.... I genuinely do care about womens issues. My mother was a woman

Luckily I`ve been there before in the 80s I know what I believe in and will continue to call myself a feminist in spite of slightly derogatory language which essentially attacks my motives as less than worthy.

I actually I think I have a valid point and would have liked to include it in this interesting debate.... however apparently we can only talk about specified parts of this... is there a list?

In addition the implication that I am unable to have an equal say in a debate about womens issues without subsuming it with my male perspective....... just because I am a man..... (because apparently thats what men always do) is an interesting thought.

I will not be calling this kind of exclusive and negative attitude misandry....
I will just say it is negative stereotyping and mildly sexist instead. (to give the benefit of the doubt perhaps that was not the intention)

Women can definitely lead the battle against misogyny but the obvious truth is women will need the support of like minded men to get it won.

I wonder what is the most effective way for women convince and convert (some) men from their misogynistic views?

I'm a girl and I hate feminism. I understand exactly why men would be turned away. Why does the women's forum on an autistic discussion board have to be about feminism? The original point is disappearing. Nitpicking at wordings from people with communication disorders is wrong. Nobody should worry about carefully wording things so they're not called sexist. This walking on egg shells is f*****g ridiculous for anyone, let alone autistic people to attempt. Of course if you look for reasons to be offended you'll find them. And that's what feminism is now. Looking for reasons why a particular post is sexist. If you want to talk about feminism, do, all means. Is here really the place, though? The politics board on WP is where this belongs, is it not? Please don't turn this board into PPR.

In both cases I don't find it particulary funny but it's not offensive, it's just a joke. The joke itself is not about gender but about a behaviour.

Bringing misandry into a topic about misogyny is an attempt to change the topic of discussion.

What exclusive attitude? This is all your conjecture.

So women better tow the line and keep the men happy or things will not improve? That is kinda circular.

1. yes there was a touch of sarcasm; but but to be honest I also genuinely was wondering whether there is an unspoken forum protocol which states that males cannot get freely involved. I`m not clear. was this thread just for women or for women and men too?

2. I still believe that Misogyny and Misandry are blatantly connected and their impact and usage have many similar features. I do not support any kind of misanthropy.

3. calling men hijackers of the thread what i meant by exclusive (ie women and people who agree only allowed) and actually it was stereotyping men as a group, which is what women also complain about.

4, read the last bit carefully again I clearly said " Women can definitely lead" ... how is that "toeing the line"? surely I am encouraging precisely the opposite to happen?
ie followers toe the line not leaders. In other words I want women to lead me/us men forward on this ... How will women lead?
5. Women obviously will need the help of men to change the world for the good .... surely? are you honestly saying they will be able to do it without men contributing?

There aren't that many misogynistic men on WP, I believe that the vast majority are on par with real life, I don't believe that members here should be held to a higher standard than is the norm in the outside world.

Dark humor is often used as a method to discuss something taboo, it is funny because the comedian plus audience implicitly know it is taboo. I have often cracked caveman jokes, as a method of dealing with male behaviours that I can not personally relate to, but understand to be a specifically male thing.

I don't believe that makes me a misandrist.

I have often wanted to post a question about relationships, but never click submit (bar one time when it wasn't a sensitive issue), because I anticipate that it will turn into a Pee-ing competition.
I'm fairly certain that women have relationship problems they need help with too, but who would post a question when facing into the wind :jester:.

From my perspective, it would be nice to just post something and get advice about it instead of the thread turning into how bad men have it by comparison.
Its akin to that childhood piece that many will have heard from adults when they didn't do xyz... What about all the starving/homeless/naked babies in the third world, yes there is nearly always someone worse off, being reminded of that and using it as a comparison to minimise a person's struggles does nothing to help them solve their issue though.

Why do you think it's women's responsibility to "fix" misogynists?
