I guess I'm still trying to find a balance where I feel comfortable.

Yes, I felt very self-conscious.

Last night, my daughter gave me her make up book so I can learn how to do it properly; every time I put on something like mascara or foundation, she is always telling me its not on right and I need to start at the base of the lashes and go right to the ends and the foundation has to go further than the jawline. I wonder if I looked funny when I just stopped at that line before 8O lol

Kaleido there are some very good tutorials on youtube which are worth watching if you're looking for basic tips. There are also some good guides on what colours suit different skin types.

I did try having a quick look last night but it was all words and no pictures, I operate mainly in pictures if I have to do something. What kind of search words do I need to get someone to show me?

If you like videos better, go to Google and click on the videos option at the top, then search. It'll only bring up things you can see visually. Easier than sorting manually

I've never used any kind of make up and I have no intention to ever do it either. Why anyone do is beyond me!
It's primitive, sexist and does not improve looks.

I can only speak for myself here.

I want to use it because its a new experience to be able to apply it properly and because I have a few health issues and it stops me looking too pale as if I was ill. I think it does improve a few things but maybe only when it is me looking.

:D No problem!

Yes, sometimes I wonder why I should feel unattractive without makeup and think it is a little unfair that men aren't pushed ( 8O as much? ) to wear it. Usually I go without everyday, but sometimes concealer is good if you have problem skin or some pink if you are very tired and pale.

I tried it out today and when I got to my medical, the guy told me I looked very well and at the next place I went, the lady said I was looking great.

Make up WORKS :D

I would like to, but I don't like standing out. I don't like it when men start assuming I'm trying to catch their eye and start commenting on my appearance, which happens. I wish I felt comfortable, because I love goth makeup, but I wear the most minimal makeup or a bare face.

I know how you feel. I really, really hate how if you wear nice clothes or ones that show your outline, men assume you're being sexual and harass you..

Its true, I had a man follow me in his car one Sunday morning. I was fully covered in a long skirt and a lace shawl so I don't know if it was because it was eary in the morning or if its because there was no-one around. When he stopped the car and started looking at me, I glared and he decided to drive away. I was only going to feed my friends cat too.

Thanks.

I know, its scary, I have been followed about three times since I lived in the city, I had to run away from two guys. That is in nearly twenty years though, there may have been people that I don't know about too.

Its one of the things that put me off looking feminine, but now I am middle aged its probably ok.

:) Thanks CG

I know, I'm trying to fit in with NT women by being a tiny bit girlier, but then I feel like I have to be extra cautious because I attract more attention from men.

Ha ha, just noticed we're doing the 'creepy men' thread here. I'd move it over there, but someone has jumped in there to add his two cents and I don't feel great about discussing in there now

I like to wear nice dresses a significant portion of the time, and attractive shoes, that sort of thing. I put my outfits together very carefully, even if I am not going anywhere. However I rarely wear any make-up.
