A wikipedia article about "Management" of PMS.
An excerpt:
"Many treatments have been suggested for PMS, including diet or lifestyle changes, and other supportive means. Medical interventions are primarily concerned with hormonal intervention and use of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs).". If it sounds helpful the article is here, to read more: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... Management

Ovariectomy.

I'm tired of this body. Breasts instead of strength. Fat instead of muscle. Fear instead of freedom.

Going on the pill fixes pms for a lot of women. Mine used to be very bad and it stopped completely when I went on the pill.

I don't want to though. The pill s**ts all over your ability to get stronger and build muscle.

Not a problem for the original poster who explicitly said that she doesn't want to exercise. Unless you're a body builder, this wouldn't be an issue for most women. And it IS EFFECTIVE, without lopping off any irreplaceable body parts.

Yup. No pain and light periods when you do have them, I seem to remember.

No wonder why I feel flabbier after I started taking Seasonique for menstrual migraines. I was wondering which medication I was taking caused it.

Zinc and magnesium will help. If it's pain you're worried about, try Aleve.

With regard to exercise, most exercise that you do for the purpose of getting exercise sucks, but there are ways of getting moving without that. I would know. I hate exercise with a burning passion, and so far I've lost twenty pounds.

You can try doing little things like taking the stairs rather than the elevator. They do add up.

There's a book with a workout plan for easy ten-minute fitness "sparks" that you do whenever's convenient, but I forget the title and don't want to repeat misremembered information.

There's dancing. This hasn't worked for me because of a lack of opportunities (I specifically like Armenian line dancing, and I'm no good at it so joining a dance troupe is out of the question), but I suppose it could.

There's fencing. Better yet, there's joining the SCA for a recreation of period fencing techniques, complete with armor. It's all very geeky, and when you want to take a break, people will be more than willing to chat about fantasy stuff. (For some bizarre reason, the sort of people who make their own chainmail are also more likely than average to enjoy fantasy. Not just books, either; I met an otaku there.) But that might be too much for you.

I really like walking places. When I'm not walking around the neighborhood, I'm pacing the house. I'm not good at it, and I don't walk far. About fifteen minutes is the longest I usually go. But the best part is, I like to carry stuff with me. It started out with a tiny purse my aunt gave me. Then when I found that it was bulging, I sewed a slightly larger purse and used that. When I found that that was inadequate, I bought a somewhat larger purse. When I needed to carry textbooks, I moved to a backpack. When the backpack started ripping apart under the strain, I moved some of the books to the purse I'd been using just before. Then recently, I added another purse to that setup. So now I walk exactly as far and as fast as I did before, but... :D And I didn't even notice, it was so gradual. The trick was never adding anything just for weight. It all consists of stuff I genuinely need to carry everywhere, like a menorah, a diary I used when I was thirteen, an empty candy wrapper... (Well, I need to carry it everywhere, even if no one else would.)

EDIT: I forgot to mention you might also check your thyroid. Note that if you have Hashimoto's, the TSH test will give a false negative; test instead for T3.

The pill helped some for me, but made me gain weight (on the plus side...boobs? ;) ha ha ha). Eating right, limiting caffeine, getting good sleep--which I hate to tell you usually means good exercise for me, which also helps with sensory overload AND the PMS. There isn't a short cut here. Lots of B vitamins seem to help too...but you have to take them all month, not just when the hormonal nasty stuff starts.

I also found a lot of relief when I cut back on carbs--of course what I'm finding now is this was probably because I stopped eating wheat (bread especially) and was limiting my gluten intake.

Hope you find something that works for you. Hey, exercise can be fun, it doesn't have to be all out for the effects to kick in, and it really does help with the depression, the hormonal nasties and sensory overload stuff.

I know that exercise sucks but you gotta do it before you're fat, like me. Then it's a really pain in the ass. But it does make me feel better afterward, probably something with endorphins or whatever. :D

Emotional sensitivity is the only side-effect of PMS that I get really so I guess I'm lucky. ^_^

A very high protein, low carb diet (like less than 30g carbs per day) is key.

No caffeine, alcohol (which would defeat the high protein diet anyhow), and no sugar.

The down side of this diet is that you can have sleep disturbances which isn't good; but a little melatonin can correct that. It doesn't last long.

Taking a B-Complex can also help considerably.

I've done it; made a huge difference.
