porn (18+)
Porn is damaging to relationships and to society in general. The vast majority of porn is misogynistic and degrading to women and shows women being objectified, abused and sometimes raped. Yes, literal rape happens in porn, sometimes the actors are coerced or literally forced into what they are doing, or else they are not told the truth about what will be done to them during the scene. Some of course are underage and/or exploited in other ways. A person who watches porn repeatedly will get distorted, unrealistic, and downright insane views about human sexuality, what is pleasurable to women and how women, should be treated during sex. This is not good stuff to bring into any relationship, but especially not in a monogamous relationship where the whole point of it is to share your sexual energy only with one partner in a closed circuit, NOT to be directing sexual energy/interest outside of that circuit. It is a totally normal preference for anyone to dislike it if their partner watches porn and to not want that to be going on in their relationship.
It is sad to read the comments along the lines of "just be thankful he's not cheating" what's next, if he hits the dog just be glad he's not beating you?

Or not .....
In recent years, economics professor Todd D. Kendall and law professor Anthony D’Amato have made the argument: potential rapists perceive pornography as a substitute for rape. They believe the rise in access to Internet porn accounts for the decline in rape. US States that have adopted the Internet more quickly have seen a greater and faster decline in rape than other states.

Interesting...well rather than agreeing with your "or not" I think this finding actually supports my views and shows just how bad porn really is. If porn satisfies the psychological needs and urges of a rapist so well that they consider it a substitute for rape, then it is basically equivalent to rape. Rapists don't stop raping just because they get to see other people having sex, they would only find it a substitute if the porn they are watching portrays something that reminds them of what they would get from raping someone. And indeed, the vast majority of porn portrays some elements of rape, like dehumanization or force, and many porn scenes portray literal rape. But worse than that, some porn scenes are ACTUAL rape. Just because it is on video and the people appear to be consenting and or enjoying themselves, does NOT mean that everyone in that scene gave full consent to what is happening, or wants to be there. So I really question the assumption that porn availability accounts for a "decline" in rape. I would postulate that some of the unaccounted for rape is still happening, it's just not being counted or recognized as rape, because it's in a porn video. And in all likelihood it means the incidence of rape is just being shifted somewhat outside of the US, to foreign countries where women, particularly young/underage women, are more easily exploited.

Maybe you're just over complicating and over-thinking this .
Their research showed that highly sexed males were using porn to relieve themselves so they didn't have to go out looking for sex ... if you are satisfied after having a big meal you're not going to want to nip out to the Chippy or BurgerBar straight after ....
I don't agree with the conclusion in your second sentence either . That's like saying that a cure for cancer is actually a cancer ...

Or maybe you're just not thinking this through. Rape doesn't happen because the rapist is "highly sexed." They aren't just looking for sexual/physical relief. They are trying to satisfy a psychological urge, that is to feel power and control over another person. Porn has a plentiful supply of that because that's what the vast majority of it portrays, scenes of power, domination, control, force, submission, coercion, dehumanization, objectification, and so on.

Guess there's two sides to everything . We are all different so you can't really simply generalise .
We as a couple , watch and enjoy porn as a "starter " , our marriage and sex life is marvellous .
I also watch it alone occasionally .......... .... but I've never once got the urge to go out on the streets looking for a woman though , afterwards .

Dianthus provided a full answer which point you completely missesd, misunderstood and over-simplified. You obviously do not understand the depth of the subject. Many of us come here as a way to shelter ourselves from this kind of illogism and shallow thinking so hurtful and frustrating to an aspie mind. Please respect this space.

I must agree with zizu58, my wife and I used to enjoy some porn together as a form of mood enhancer. We would both get very turned on and it was great! Two kids and a multi-generational household later, we have had to abandon the practice. Wife has to hear as well as see the 'action'.
