Its a great statement to me because its true in that statements that say "All women like ___" or "All autistics do ___" are never true; there's always at least one person who defies it. That's kind of what I base my philosophy on life on. Nothing is absolute and I don't particularly believe in right and wrong, it's all a matter of perspective.

However, by its own statement it itself can't be true.. and yet somehow it is. And that's the part that just bakes my mind. 8)

It's weird how people see a bug and kill it without thinking. I'm not particularly a nut for bugs I'm just against killing something just because it offends someone aesthetically.

Several times I've heard my mother-in-law talk about how she used to pull the legs and wings off of crane flies when she was a kid so that they were just a stump wiggling around and she thought it was funny. Seriously, how horrible is that??

I kill bugs that get into the house because, unfortunately, that's the easiest way to get them out of the house and I don't want them biting me or flying into my face at night. I do typically feel bad about it, though. I catch and release them when possible.

The only time I have tortured insects is when I had a little lizard that I captured and put in a glass cage. I was trying to get him to eat and he seemed too slow to catch flies with wings so I pulled the wings off a few. That does seem bad now but I was trying to feed my lizard :( The other lizard that was in there caught the flying flies just fine but mine was too slow and apathetic so I tried to help him out. Turns out he was just super depressed or something and died  felt terrible about that one.

I save snails from the street as often as possible.

Speaking of bugs, I used to kill them all the time because that was what I was taught. I would always see my mother kill slugs and bugs so i thought if you see one, kill it. So every time I saw a slug, I'd kill it even though I always felt bad. Then one day I saw one outside and I ran out to kill it but dad wouldn't let me. It took me years to realize I didn't have to kill slugs whenever I saw one. Instead I would just ignore them.

I also started to let flies outside when I was a teen and the only thing I killed were bees, anything that stings you.

Now today I kill bugs again because I live in an apartment and it be a nuisance to run all the way downstairs to let it out. I also used to pull wings off of flies and one day I bragged to my dad about it and he scolded me for it. He said "Beth, that is now how you treat a bug" and I couldn't understand why he was so upset. I knew my mom be so happy about what I did but why wasn't Dad happy? For a while I just thought my dad was wrong and weird because I took my mother so literal about bug killing so I thought it was a rule. Then I couldn't understand why dad wasn't following it. Then I realized it was just an opinion. There is no rule about having to kill flies and some people just don't think it's right so they don't do it. Some think it's okay to do it and do it. There is no fact.

I have a way to resolve this. Absolutes only exist within certain constructs or in math terms subsets. Once you leave the construct or subset the absolute does not hold any more. For example, in plane geometry the angles of a triangle equal 180 degrees. This absolute does not hold up once you leave plane geometry and go into riemann geometry. Another example is the horse's saddle is considered a flat surface but not considered a level surface. I believe a level surface is just one type of flat surface.

I believe what you're saying with your statement is that there is no absolute that intersects anything that you can imagine whether it exists or not and if it is possible to exist or not. When I mean anything, I mean both concrete and abstract like rocks and beliefs, respectively. This would be impossible in math terms at least because what it would mean is we would have to obtain the set of all sets and all of their intersection points. In addition, we would have to have all of the sets that do not contain themselves as well. We would have to find the intersection points of the sets that do contain themselves and those that do contain themselves in the set that contains all sets. This would be an impossible situation to do. It presents contradictions. We would have Russell's paradox.

In laymens terms, absolutes only exist within certain containers and once you leave those containers they're not absolute anymore. There is one absolute I believe that does exist. It is called the law of identity which says All A are A. All entitities are themselves. Myth is Myth. You are you. A rose is a rose. Everything has an identity with certain attributes and once you change the attributes it is no longer that identity. I believe that subsets of a set has a more precise identity.

I hope you understand what I am saying here.

1. Stimming - hand flapping (only when i am home) and constant moving of my feet - done in public (people seem to think i am nervous even though it is just me thinking)

2. little to no variation in voice.

3. Collection of post cards

4. lists (because i am ridiculously disorganized)

5. Weird hobbies like painting furniture, sanding, and fixing it up; building doll houses

6. I dont always respond to people appropriately when they use YOU sentences...for instance i do better when people say "I find you to be.... or I think you are...." "I think you should...." but when they say "You are..." or "You need to..." its a different story.

Thanks cubedemon6073. :) somthing to think about indeed. I love this place. Where else would you get that level of thought about something so random :P

Other forums I've been to instantly start attacking me for anything I say that is remotely thought-prevoking, I don't understand why :?

Yes, I've been on the receiving end of that as well. They just threw a string of expletives at me. I questioned some their beliefs. My argument against their beliefs were that they were inconsistent. I showed them how it was. I thought they would either refute my argument and show me where I was in error or they would see the holes themselves and correct them. What I received I did not expect at all. I was cursed out in a major way. They wished for my death. They accused me of speaking doublespeak.

My argument was valid but unsound anyway. It was because I took their beliefs out of context and I took it in a very literal way. The only way I obtained this was I asked someone with similar beliefs. He showed me where the hole in my arguement was in. From this and talking to other people I think I can surmise this.

AS people or at least I look at only parts. I believe we or at least I have tendency to divorce one part from the whole and just look at that. In addition, we look at each part as seperate from each other instead of an interelated whole.

NT folks see things like their values as one whole and complete. They do not seperate things like we do. Sometimes NTs do but not to our extreme.

I will give an example. One of the values of American culture is a positive or the can do attitude. Another is sound judgement or what is typically called common sense. Let's say we looked positive attitude only. By this standard alone a person could say he believes he could climb mount everest without mountain gear, without food and being naked. Let's take this secenario I presented and apply it to sound judgement. Would this be sound judgement this person was using. In my opinion, I say no. More than likely this person is going to die from either starvation or freeze to death. Yes, we should have a positive attitude but it needs to have some sound judgement behind it.

What we AS people have to do is take these type of things and put them together. When they're put together into this interlated whole like I did I believe at least for me things made a lot more sense. Consider it like a well-oiled machine in which all of the parts work together in harmony. Don't look at the parts as opposing but look at them as complements to each other.

Another example that I have is at my church. My pastor pointed out something in the bible. He said a lot of people have a tendency to divorce the God of the old testament and the God of the new testament and see them as two different Gods. One God is a God of firery angry and justice and the other is a God of mercy. This is what he said. He said this is a wrong way to look at it. He said God is both a God of justice and a God of mercy. I believe in the bible justice and mercy is intermixed in. A good simile to this is it is like neapolitan ice cream.

I was able to extrapolate this concept to other areas as well. What I am finding out is things that seem contradictory actually may not be. They are complements to each other in one whole system. I believe this is one of the core parts of the asperger person's major problems. I believe experts have said this as well. I think I may be comfirming they are correct on this.

Another thing is I believe NTs or at least some of them especially the experts speak in very abstract terms. I believe they have said all of what I said but in abstract terms. I believe this is another core part of our problems. I believe asperger folks or at least I have major problems dealing in abstract concepts and we need them broken down to the concrete level. Once we understand it at the concrete level I believe we can then deal in the abstract.

Yeah, what you describe happening is what always happens to me too. You can't question anyone or ask them to explain anything to you without them somehow thinking you're baiting them into something or.. insulting them or something. Nor can you try to clarify something you said previously or try to explain your actions as these are not acceptable either. :?

I am almost incapable of comprehending vague ideas or generalizations. For example, if someone says to me "You're always mean to me!" that sentence means nothing to me because it is not specific. I always ask for examples. If you give me an example of a behavior that I did that was mean, I can analyze it and figure out my motives, what I may have done wrong.. etc. Without a specific instance, the accusation may as well not exist because it means literally nothing to me until I can dissect details. I seem to be much more handicapped in this area than any one I have ever met and it causes much frustration to the people I speak with when I can't understand what they're saying or I dismiss their complaint because they're unable to provide an example.

I have a lot of quirks, I can list a few. I think that to be 100% sure though, you can't diagnose yourself via the internet. I mean, many NTs make lists, for example. A lot of the quirky forgetful things could also be a sign of ADHD. Lastly, having some signs of autism doesn't mean you actually have it. Read some lists of things you are absolutely sure you don't have, and I'm sure you'll recognize some things. I'm not saying that self-diagnosed people are not to be taken seriously as Aspies, just that a clinical diagnosis is the only way to really, really be sure. Not everyone needs that certainty to validate their own suspicions, but I know I do.

On to my quirks:
- I sometimes speak in a babyish language with cutesy words (in private)
- I collect Hello Kitty stuff
- I enjoy BDSM
- I rub my feet together when feeling good
- I really enjoy being scratched behind my ears like a cat
- I save bugs too (wonder why this is so common?)
- I cant stand labels in my clothing, they annoy me to no end
- I always wear sunglasses outside because I'm super sensitive to light
- I love crawling into small places, especially when dark and soft
- I lose things that don't have a regular place all the time
- I make lists, or otherwise do nothing.

I could go on, but this is enough for now :P

Okay speaking of BSDM, I have a diaper fetish and I like being treated like a child. I like the feeling of being cared for.

I also have a hard time with vague things like "You're always mean to me."
I also pace and rock back and forth
I can watch the same movies over and over and never get tired of it
I like routine and don't get tired or bored of the same routes
I like to be petted (rubbed on the head)

Cube and Myth, people have also gotten mad at me for asking too many questions and my office clerk at my old work used to get mad at me too for when I try and clarify. Now I don't ask as many questions like I used to. I only do to certain people. Plus when people say things, I am not going to know what questions to ask if I know nothing about it so therefore I won't see any flaws. But I have asked about god and the bible, if the bible stories are true and if there was a god, why isn't there any dinosaurs mentioned in the bible? Who created the dinosaurs then? I also ask if people take the bible so literal, then why aren't they against machinery or vehicles or other stuff that didn't even exist back then when it was written? I ask this because I have been told people are against stuff they think is a sin because it's not in the bible such as homosexuality. But yet no one has ever been able to answer this and my questions always get ignored. I guess better than getting attacked.

I contend that not even a clinical diagnosis is 100% accurate since it is still based on the beliefs of the particular doctor who assesses you, but to each his own.

League_Girl - I am not a Christian anymore but I am very well-versed in the bible and I can answer your questions.

1. Why aren't dinosaurs mentioned in the bible: Simply because the bible deals with the history of the earth as it relates to humans and god's purpose for humans. Dinosaurs presumably existed before humans since (according to biblical chronology) humans have only been around for something like 6,000 years. Carbon dating may have other ideas but this is subject to debate among religious people. God created the dinosaurs, but dinosaurs don't have anything to do with god's plan for humans so therefore are not mentioned. There's further theory that they possibly died in the Flood which means they would have co-existed with humans for some time; this makes it a little more difficult to explain why they weren't mentioned.. but again I guess it's just because they weren't applicable to the issue at hand.

2. Why arent Christians against machinery: First of all, I think you have a misconception here. Your premise is that Christians dislike things that aren't mentioned in the bible, for example homosexuality and machines. This is untrue, homosexuality is specifically mentioned in the bible as something god hates. That is why Christians dislike homosexuality. Since cars and complex machines aren't mentioned, most Christians have no reason to believe that they're something that god hates.

However, there ARE some Christians who believe that machines are evil. They're called Amish.

Does that sufficiently answer your questions? :)

Well I trust a team of psychologists more then myself. This equation of course depends on how much you trust yourself. If you can know for 100% sure by yourself then that's fine. I'm only speaking for myself here, really.

There is one thing I don't understand. When it is said God can't lie does it literally mean it is beyond his ability to lie or does it imply that he won't lie because lying and deception is very repugnant to him. If we think of God has having infinite knowledge and infinite wisdom and we are finite beings with limited knowledge and wisdom God had to put the words into a way humanity could understand which was a very finite way. Our language is very limited when it comes to the infinite wisdom and knowledge of God. How would the human mind which is finite be able to store knowledge and wisdom which is infinite?

Why did God do all of this and create all of this. The answer is for his pleasure. What gives him pleasure. One of his attributes the bible I believe says is his infinite selflessness and his infinite love. League_Girl, if you notice people in general what would be gained for me and others around me by doing this. I don't believe God thinks this way. His pleasure, desire, and what he asks is what can I give? God is complete and has no needs and wants. What God truly desires is not to gain for himself but have a creation to be able to give and bless to. Myth will you please comfirm if I am correct or not? League_Girl, I believe people today just cherry pick what they follow in the bible and what they don't.

There is another question I have. There are racists who believe in the bible as well. They believe that the bible says that racial mixing is against the bible and frowns against it. How do they derive this nonsense?

Cube, you're asking the wrong person because I know nothing about religion and I know very little about the bible. I have only read parts of it in Sunday school as a kid. Maybe myth can answer it since she was able to answer my questions and they were helpful. Basically the bible just leaves out stuff that is unimportant to god and dinosaurs is one of them.

Also another question I have is were fetishes mention in the bible, I have seen people say online they were sins and were they in the bible? If people take the bible so literal, why do they decide things are a sin that weren't even in the bible such as people pretending to be sissies (dressed up as little girls and pretending they are one, roleplaying). Was that in the bible too?

Also if god really does make disasters and causes terrorism, why does he do this? Why would he want to hurt families and curse people with a disability? Why did he make my life miserable in 6th grade by giving me boobs and a woman's body and my period? If god is real, why does he do these things? Where does the logic come from that god has control over what people do on the planet like 9/11 or wars?

These questions aren't directed at you cube.
