I hate going to the hairdressers, especially when it's a stranger and they start asking you lot's of questions and you don't know whether to reply or not. Thats why, whenever i have to go to the hairdressers(ie when my hairs so long i can't braid it) i get it cut really short, and only go when it's too long again.
Despite this i like playing with my hair and colour it often myself. Usually in semi-permanent so i can change the colour a lot without damaging my hair.
Most recently i bleached a streak in my hair then died it pink. The colour isn't permanent so i can change it all i want.

Me too! About the hairdressers; a former friend of mine was one and so it was cool when she would do it. But going to people i don't know at all is rarely a fun experience for me. A lot of hairdressers sure are chatty! I used to do the same thing- grow it quite long and then go get it cut very short, but I found there were to many months in between when I looked like I had hockey hiar  .

I know I'm a guy and thus trespassing, but the topic applies to me.
I shave my head every two weeks, and I do my own nails (I let them grow on my left hand, thumb, index, middle and ring fingers for playing classical guitar).
I'm not sure I'd be okay with someone else doing my nails as it'd feel way decadent.
Also used to shave my legs for cycling... what a pain that was. I'm 6 foot, got a lot of leg to shave. Eventually I just went with Nair after discovering the hell that is the Epilady.

Epilady... I'll definately agree with you on that one...now that is one nasty, painful little invention. 8O

I get my hair done, but only oncec or twice a year, because the only hairdresser I'll currently let touch my hair is 800 miles away.

I used to cut it myself, but I finally accepted I'm horrible at that. Right now it's way, way too long and it's pissing me off. But I'm not ready to go short again yet. Maybe next spring.

I cut my own hair and if I wear nailpolish (which is rare) I do that for myself too. I don't see the point in wasting money to get it done professionally when I can do it just as well for practically free.

I've never had my nails done. I cut them as short as possible without it being painful. I doi get my hair cut professionally, but when it was long, I trimmed it myself.

I cut my own hair, and I don't really do my nails...but it's mostly because I'm broke. If I had more money, sure! :D

More often than not, I am dissatisfied with the salon. I can count on one hand the number of times I've trusted the person trimming my hair that they won't chop too much off! I got my nails done for my wedding and wanted to rip the tips off when trying to use the computer at work. They just got in the way.
