I'm enjoying this thread so much ! !!

Have realised the small bag thing doesn't actually work cos it all just ends up in one of my 3 backpacks instead

Odd things in these include

In the the small one
A sprig of very small fir cones, one fir cone now loose (has been in there for at least 12 months now)
Two hair grips with shiny flowers which I never wear but like the look of so they stay in there

In the medium one
A box of tiny coloured pencils
Some folded sheets of paper which I have no idea what's on them and am afraid to look
More books for study than I actually have time to read today

In the large one
Many many pens - I swear they are breeding
spare pair of socks
(and hanging from the outside a rather worn Tiny Clanger who used to make a noise when squeezed but this has worn out)

Just about every receipt I've been given over the past two years.
An "Aristocats" checkbook cover with no checks in it.
Two Epi-pens.
An inhaler.
Some spilled guinea pig food.
One sock that I'm pretty sure does not belong to me.
Some candy of unknown age and origin.
Some weird strappy things that look sort of like seatbelts... I have no idea what these are.
A small stuffed "Hedwig."

I should probably do some cleaning...

I don't have anything that's odd except a really messy purse with garbage in it. (scraps of paper and candy wrappers)

Same.

Other than that, I don't have anything that strange in my bag.

I think most of the stuff IN my purse is pretty normal, it's what's on the outside of my purse that's kind of odd. My apartment keys are attached to the strap with a clip-on key ring because I got tired of fumbling around for them in my purse. I also have a clip-on watch because I kept losing my wristwatches, and a bottle of hand sanitizer that came with a reusable plastic, neon-pink loop that holds the bottle upside-down for easy access. I had to attach them in a certain order to keep them from jingling too much and being annoying. I do sometimes carry my CD or Sony Walkman (still plays cassette tapes) inside my purse while I listen to tunes, so I guess that's strange too, since everyone else has M3P's or whatever they're called. :)

The odd things in my work bag:
1) 2 pairs of eye plugs
2) safety gloves
3) Safety goggles
4) A pair of jeans with a hole in them, I finally realized the hole was noticeable enough where I couldn't wear the jeans anymore. Goodbye jeans I've had for 7 yrs.
5) Disaster preparedness pamphlets

I got a bunch of not so odd stuff too
1) Keys
2) Wallet
3) USB port
4) Envelope
5) Pill container
6) Snack bar

Paint color cards, I think. I usually have normal things in my purse.

Never found the barette.

The oddest things in mine are dice and the scientific calculator I've had since I was 11.

I have very strong attachments to this calculator.

I use a backpack instead of a purse - easier to carry.

I have a doctor's note + other documentation for going barefoot where they have rules, a glow stick, and a wind up flashlight in my outer pack pocket. And a whistle attached to the loop on the outside of the bag. All date from when I did a lot of hiking in Vancouver, but have stayed on. You never know when I might need them! (I have used a glow stick and flashlight when caught in the dark, but never needed the whistle.)

A wooden knife by brother carved for me.
My standard purse stuff is a little weird too.
Batteries
Dog treats
Three books
Sketch pad
Energy bars for my diabetic dad (I personally think they're disgusting)
Several dead flowers
And millions of receipts that are playing at being rabbits and multiplying!

I tend to carry a glorified wallet, and a purse only when I am travelling and need to take more stuff.
The oddest items in wallet/purse are 2 sets of earplugs, latex gloves, and an ounce of silver with a quote inscribed on it. That's what I call my "real money".

Well not in a purse but in my a big backpack the things people do not expect to see are:

Leatherman Wave
Crescent wrench
Superglue
Multimeter (not always there but time to time with no reason)
Scientific calculator
A lighter (I only smoke if I go out at weekends and I don't carry cigarettes usually)
Folding toothbrush and toothpaste in a piece of straw
Kubaton (self defence weapon - i move it into my pocket at nighttime)

... and the other two thirds of more normal stuff including makeup and medicine.
(By the way I percive receipts older than a day very annoying and there really is order in that bag.)

In addition there are in my pockets:

Victorinox folding knife (with screwdrivers and all food container openers)
Duct tape (mini roll wrapped around a tube cut from pen)
Rubberbands and paperclips (occasionally, when they have not got used off for something yet)

Oh my, this topic made me think about few other very important things that I might need, but currently are not in my bag.... like a spoon for example.
