Historically, guys cheated more IF they could afford it or were in an environment that promoted it (e.g. US GIs in wartime France). Most people really couldn't. With modern feminism and free love and all that, it's become a lot easier for females to cheat though.

Actually, they've done studies on this and found that since women entered the work-force and have the same opportunities as men have had, women now cheat just as much as men do. It's always been a simple matter of opportunity.
