But I'm not the sort of girl to be fanatic about clothes. I know some typical girls of my age and younger who can't resist buying something each time they set foot in any clothes shop. They act like they have no self-control, as though buying clothes is a serious addiction. I do wish I was more like that. I think my mum would be happier, being so she likes clothes shopping herself and would love a daughter who loves clothes shopping too, and having shopping sprees together. But instead I go around with a bored, sulky look on my face, looking beyond everything I see and not paying attention to the clothes in the shops. If I am in a good mood and can focus more on clothes, it still doesn't feel natural to me, and I kind of get embarrassed, for explainable reasons.

Also I have a friend who likes to go into every charity shop in town, and there's about 8 or 9 charity shops. I find charity shops rather boring. A quick five minutes in a charity shop is fine with me, but my friend takes ages. She looks at each item of clothing one by one on nearly every rail, then starts looking at clothes she doesn't even like or wouldn't wear, making me wonder if she's forgotten that time exists, or if she's delibrately wasting time. I get bored easily in shops. I like a quick whip in and out, just skim my eyes on the items rather than just standing there gazing at stuff, and I believe that you can spot things just as easily when skimming through, then stopping to specifically look at things only that catch your eye.

I just shop online. I know my measurment for the shops so yes, shopping online is much easier in my opinion.

For girls who despise clothes shopping, may I offer you some advice? Never, ever, EVER look bored in a clothes shop. Other girls hate you for it, and will laugh at you and get their friends to laugh at you too, by tapping them. It's happened to me before. I've only got to show even a teeny bit of disinterest in the clothes shop environment, and somebody notices and decides to rub it in by giving you funny looks then tapping her friend or friends to show them that you are looking fed up.

You can either say ''if I'm that funny why don't you film me and put me up on You've Been Framed?'' or just stare at them to acknowledge that you have noticed them taking the mickey and then they might stop, then walk away.

I stopped worrying about what other people think a long time ago. If you're bored, it's probably because it's boring - so look bored. If you'd prefer a book shop - go right in. I haven't worn makeup in my life, except at special occasions. If you're having a melt down, have it in the most comfortable place possible. Don't go into the public toilets to hide. I spent too much of my life hiding in smelly public toilets.

If someone reacts badly - well it says more about them than it does about you. If they seem to be laughing at you, look over your shoulder as if you are looking to see what's funny - then look back and shrug, and get on with looking bored. It is extremely bad form to be laughing at someone in public.

People like that scare me. Especially with they ask me "Isn't this/that so me?!". How the hell am I suppose to know?

Fashion sense didn't come to me naturally. It's like social skills, has to be learned the hard way. When I decided to dress nicely 3 years ago I had to read a lot of things and study people and their clothes. For an aspie, once you treat it as an interest it suddenly IS interesting. :D After I've learned enough I'm dressing my whole family much better. I still won't wear uncomfortable stuff, of course.

I do a lot of online shopping. Don't like spending hours trying stuff on either. Thank goodness I'm a very standard size and it's easy to order things from everywhere.

I know my size so I think there's no need to shop in-store. The only I thing I try on in store are jeans and pants.

Clothes shopping for me consists of going to M&S Men's department for jeans, then Primark mens for hoodies & t-shirts.
I'm not interested in clothes beyond them being comfortable and I *hate* clothes shopping. I occasionally go with my husband because he likes to get my input on what he is buying, but he can shop for hours and I'm fed up and moaning after about 5 minutes ... poor sod.

Clothes shopping is dead boring. I don't have that obsession at all, and just wanna buy 'em in large quantities when cheap so I am off that dreadful chore for a long time.
But I can easily spend hours looking at DVDs/ games/ books.

I usually don't mind shopping for clothes but it's harder for me cos I'm a plus size girl, so I do most of my shopping online

Yup. I know the feeling. I went into Target one time and the plus size section was so small. I almost felt like starting a petition to make it bigger and have more a variety.

Some woman at Kohl's actually helped me find an article of clothing that I needed... that's rare. I'm definitely going back there. I wish I could remember her name...
If I ever make a lot of money, I'm thinking of hiring her or someone like her to be my personal shopper.

I've often been asked by people stuff like, ''if you aren't interested in shopping, what are you interested in?'' I know they have a point, because most people enjoy buying new things and/or browsing around shops looking at new things. I like to look around, but I can't spend too long doing that. I think not liking shopping comes from having short attention span, mixed with anxiety of being in busy public places too long. I don't like people standing in my personal space, which most women tend to do, because it blows my concentration when trying to look for things. Also I get anxious when trying things on, in case the girls doing their duty in the chaging-rooms judge what I am trying on. I once went to try on a pair of black leggins and a top that didn't go with them, and they were staring so much at what I was holding that I nearly said, ''I'm not going to wear these together, you know - I'm just trying them on at the same time!''

I know I'm a young girl myself, but.....the majority of young girls suck!

Online shopping all the way except for items that need to be tried on like bras, pants and shoes.

I have always hated clothes shopping for me it just consists of to get the most comfortable , soft clothes(mostly from Primark and occasionally Soul Cal) and get it done as quickly as possible.Mission complete.
My older sister and mum are different story however.
I much rather be in a video game shop or do shopping online as I find it more comfortable and no way near as distracting less crowding etc.

i'm really really particular about clothes(mostly for sizing/sensory/practicality issues) so online shopping is still a bit too daunting for me. when i go clothes shopping i have a list that i've usually cross checked with the stores website. then its headphones on and tunnel vision till i'm home. also, i cannot stand salesgirls, i realize that they are doing their job but i cannot think of a single person who is going to purchase more things because this navi-esque character is following them around with suggestions and questions etc.
