I, too, wear what I like. I'm not interested in knowing what the latest fashion trends are; most of them are too figure-hugging for me to really like them, anyway. Screw the latest fashions. I have my own style.

I'm not good at following fashion trends, but I wouldn't say I have my "own" style either. "Lazy" pretty much describes my current style.

Yes, I don't follow any fashion trends. I wear whatever I want :)

yesterday my aunt took one look at me and had some sort of hysterical fit. she laughed and laughed and laughed. i was wearing,

a white hooded sweater with some kind of nordic design on it
a long dusky-rose skirt
white furry boots
and big gold earrings shaped like maple leaves

what's so funny about this?! she said i looked like a refugee.
usually i have on pajamas. if i leave the house i wear t-shirts and jeans, or long skirts, or flannel shirts, hoodies. whatever.

lol, I like what most of the others in here have said.

I don't do trendy, unless it's something I like, then I'll continue wearing it forever.

I have always disliked 3/4 pants and skinny jeans. Shopping is bad enough, but, thinking you've finally found a nice pair of jeans or slacks until you realize they're one of the trendy types is enough to sow some bitterness.
Also, I love dresses... but, I feel fairly strongly about sack dresses and strapless gowns (and shirts)... they just never look quite right to me, so I can't wear them.
I think my preferences (straight leg jeans and pants, dresses and shirts that are cut for females in a non-funky style) are fairly normal and, dare I say, timeless.

Until we get to shoes.

I wear engineer's boots almost every day. Except when I wear the cowboy boots my Mom bought when I was like 12, but, never wore, so she gave them to me. For whatever reason, people love the cowboy boots and just turn their nose up the engineer's boot.
Whatever, they go on the jobsite and they look okay with jeans, imho.

My husband buys me tennis shoes, but, I only wear them if I'm jogging or walking a ton more than usual in a single day.

I have my own style: soft, warm and loose-fitting.

I vacillate between "hipster" and "90s grunge."

Not on purpose, it's just what I'm drawn to.

My style is basically if I like it and feel good in it, I wear it. I think that since we all have to wear clothes for coverage and comfort, and therefore we all have to spend money on clothes, and then spend a few minutes of the day deciding what to wear, why waste that on dull things? Why not wear stuff that you feel interesting and amazing in?

So yes, I look eccentric at times. My clothes have to be close-fitting, I don't feel comfortable swamped in baggy fabric. I wear a lot of leopard print and a lot of sequins. The last few big occasions I have been to, I have worn a sari (despite being white-British) because I haven't found a single outfit on the high street within my budget that has interested me.

I take no interest in following the trends and I like looking different. To me there is nothing better than walking into a room and seeing I'm the best-dressed person there!

I've always loved clothes and used to want to work in fashion, but now I don't think I could as I'm not interested in what is in this season, and most people wouldn't want to dress in what I'd style them in. It's better as a personal interest, I know what I like.

I'd love to have a sewing machine and some skill at using it, so I could make the outfits I design in my head.

I do have my own style. I tend to wear whatever I can throw together. IE., wearing my red petticoat skirt with my only favorite pair of jean capris and a t-shirt that's usually got something I enjoy Adventure Time, Anime... etc. I also only have one air of black DC Skateboard shoes I wear constantly. Other times I wear fingerless gloves or those rubbery bracelets.

Oh and I have a panda hat, Finn hat and Kitty hat (not sure where it is) that I wear everywhere I go. Thing is, my mom blames it on my autism when people ask why I wear funny hats or why I have such an odd way of wearing my clothes. ._.

I've decided that I'm just going to start wearing whatever I want. I don't completely conform to fashion trends (nor could I, I'm so clueless), but I do make an effort. I think that I would be a lot happier just developing my own sense of fashion. For example, I've been wanting to wear cowboy boots (cowgirl?) for a long long time, but they aren't exactly trendy here. When I decided that I'm going to just do it anyway, I felt a lot happier about the concept of putting on shoes every day!

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you dress in unique ways, if you care at all?

I have always made my own style -- both because I'm an individual and because I find fashion trends pointless, objectifying to women, and often very ridiculous looking. Wear whatever you like. Don't let anyone deter you. If you want to wear cowboy boots, go ahead! They're your feet and no one else has any right whatsoever to tell you what to put on them or comment about it.

People may have something to say at first, but they always do. I had people make fun of me all the time in high school -- even people who would've called themselves my friends if you asked. But at the end of high school, all those people who made fun of me -- for reasons I can't begin to comprehend -- actually voted me "trendsetter" for our graduation yearbook. So, people may ridicule you but it's sometimes because they admire you, other times because they're jealous of your strength, and other times they're just stupid. You can't worry about what they think, though. There will always be someone displeased with what you do -- no matter what it is -- so as long as you aren't hurting anyone, do what makes you happy! If that's cowboy boots, then so be it! :)

I'm cheering you on! :D

That sounds like a cool style. I used to have all kinds of hats when I was younger. I don't feel like wearing hats much anymore -- unless it's cold -- but I think I may have plaid shirts in every color on the visible spectrum. ;) I'm sorry your mom blames your style on your autism; it sounds like she doesn't understand. You're an individual making a choice about your appearance because of your tastes...and I think it has a lot more to do with you being a unique person than having autism. I mean, autistics don't have any sort of dress code. Besides, I personally don't think I'm Scottish at all but I love plaid. Taste is just taste...it's not determined by one's autism or lack of autism any more than it's determined by your religion, gender, sexuality, or heritage. My mom and I are pretty open with each other so if she said I wore something because I'm autistic, I'd say: *whispering* "she wears that outfit because she's neurotypical..." -- then she'd get the point and know that it's not a true or appropriate thing to say. :P

I've always dressed really loudly. Even when I wasn't into fashion I still wore bright floral shirts along with a veritable rainbow of assorted Doc Martens. Now, I generally fit in with the other art-oriented kids in my city, lots of items sourced from op shops, bold colours and patterns, flowing gypsy scarves and dresses, with a bit of 90s revival. I also have a thing for eyeballs, hands, and tropical fruits and incorporate all three into my fashion choices.

Bjork and Frida Kahlo are my style icons:

I find cowboy hats ugly (maybe the boots are better), but a woman is more beautiful with a smile on her face, so whatever motivates you~

I mix a lot of things... my laces are 2 different colors... black with bright colors... kinda a rainbow goth... I like burnished orange... nature themes... I can't dress too fancy because I use my bike to move around... so I like cargo pants... I can't wear dresses and look too cute... because I get sexually harassed dressed as lincoln with the beard... so I got attacked 4 times the same day last time I dressed like a woman... make up, long dress, nice shirt...

So whatever compromise between being happy, weird, and not get raped. XD

Edit, actually since I'm disabled, and always alone, and a nudist... I'm naked all the time!! !!

FREEEEEDOOOOM WOOOO!

I didn't really start thinking about this until recently but my "style" is a sort of cleaned up urban grunge. I wear a lot of leather (I can't go anywhere without my leather jacket). I wear pants, lots of pants, typically looser fitting (I hate tight clothes), graphic t-shirts, and hooded sweatshirts. I usually have either boots or sneakers on my feet and a beanie on my head, along with a pair of sunglasses; and on cold days, a warm scarf around my neck. My hair is shortly cropped. I dress for comfort and practicality.

I wear weird things.

I gave up jeans a long time ago, b/c I can't find jeans that fit me (I'm super-short with wide hips).
I wear lots of eclectic dresses. I like foreign, eclectic, different stuff.
I'm obsessed with scarves and head-scarves (not anything religious, fyi).

People tell me I look like a hippie. I don't care about that.

Currently my style is kind of aggressively grandma/non-sexy-librarian. At home I wear jeans and t-shirts and at work I tend to wear blouses with sweaters and either slacks or skirts with tights. I'm experimenting with heels and makeup but I'm not sure how successfully. Otherwise I'm bare-faced and flat-shoed.
