My solution is legalising non-exploitative, free will prostitution. Either that or women would have to start courting men 50/50, which would probably end up lowering the average woman's standards and expectations.... Because this is a large part of why men's standards and expectations are lower than women's.

I'm just looking forward to the days where we actually have android mates. No, I'm not looking for service, just that the people who are natural haves - whether its women who who were just born with great looks and cunning personalities or guys who were born diesel and naturally jacked up on testosterone - everyone who's just a natural biological have rather than have not is gonna get knocked straight off their high horses and cease to be the commodity that they are now which would probably add a lot more humility back into the whole dating scene as well as really make both genders feel like the other doesn't particularly 'need' them at all. That and I'd be happy to see the overweight women with Tyrese or Vin Diesel look-alikes and the geeks with models, it would probably still be frowned on a bit but then again I'd imagine it would be too commonplace for the heirarchical 'your a loser, you have a robo-mate' really have that much effect on em.

I like that idea actually, it makes alot of since.... But I don't think they can do the robomate thing right now because theyr probably barely able to operate a realdoll to move her eyes. Maybe in another 25-30 yrs or so, once they get that kind of technology (If this planets still alive at this rate, it's only a matter of time before people destroy themselves).

I think sleeping around is wrong, so the fact that men can do it and be adored for something thats wrong bothers me more than the fact that women are looked down on for it.

But at the same time, when I tell people I am waiting for marriage, I have not really had bad responses and people tell me they respect me alot for making that choice. But the people that I would get into such a discussion with are mature people, I know there are a lot of hedonistic people out there but they are not people I make friends with.

But there is I think a biological/evolutionary reason for the double standard. Men naturally are inclined to spread their genes around because the more women they sleep with the more this is possible. The only commitment a man has to make is the time it takes to mate (though sticking around will also ensure your children will survive, a male can only do that with one family, and there are many females he can breed with on the side). For a woman on the other hand, ensuring that her offspring are successful relies on a monogamous male who will stick around to raise her children, as for the woman, the act of mating requires a commitment nine months of pregnancy in which she is vulnerable, and YEARS in which to raise a child.

Therefore, women are actually DESIGNED to seek out one partneer, and therefore a woman who does not do so is seen as acting against nature. A man is DESIGNED to seek out many partners, therefore one who doesn't is seen as unnatural.

For this reason, people who try to claim everything is just a social construct, such as sociologists, bug the crap out of me. It is OBVIOUS these things have a genetic origin, though as member of a society that recognize morality we should reign in behavior that although beneficial in the state of nature will no longer serve us in modern society. And although there is tension between breeding tactics, monogamy has clearly come out the winner, but remnants of our origins are still with us, just as the hair raising on our necks is when we are scared. Doesn't do us good now, but we can see where it came from.
