Hate heels with a passion. I have some very nice flat sandals for when I must dress up.

I think they're sexy but I can't walk in them, so I don't own any.

I love how my legs look in heels but unless its a special occasion I wear the same old flats everyday.

I usually don't wear heels. But I do have a couple pairs of mid-heel shoes. They're very comfortable and never caused any pain, even though I can't even walk in other heels, I can run in these. Sometimes you just have to find the right brand and right styles.

Nah, I'm usually in ballet flats for work and sneakers or sandals outside of work. It's for the best that way and not just for my physical comfort. There is nothing attractive about someone lurching around like a drunken gorilla, which is pretty much how I feel when trying to walk in those things.

Oh gosh ... I can't walk in them either, I'm a clutz as it is, tend to trip over stuff in normal shoes, in high heels I'm a complete disaster.

I like heels and wear 2" to 3" (5 to 7.5 cm) heels to work nearly every day. I do not, however, wear platforms.

It takes practice and is a different "walk" than walking in athletic shoes, work boots or flats.

Try a a lower heel (1.5" to 2") first, instead of something high. Stand up; when you feel comfortable standing, walk "heel, toe; heel, toe" and take a few steps. Walk around in them in your house until you no longer feel like a dork. If you try 2 or 3 times and never get comfortable standing or walking in them, return them and try another pair. (By practicing in your house and not wearing them outside, the soles won't be scuffed & the shoes should still be eligible for return.)

If you try to walk the same in them as with sneakers, you'll clomp like the aforementioned drunken gorilla (good visual; a nice change from my usual "spastic cat" image).

It's easier to walk in high heeled shoes that are not also platform shoes; many pumps and wedges currently "on trend" have at least a 1" platform. The platform distorts your sense of where the ground is.

Look at the sole; if it's a smooth sole, the shoe will be "slick" which is good for dancing but not so much for walking.

Cheap shoes in general, specifically cheap high heels, *will* make your feet hurt. No matter what the shoe cost, if it doesn't feel good in the store, it won't feel better at home.

I prefer a brand called Aerosoles; they can be found new for much less than their retail asking price on ebay and amazon.

Oh HELL no!

I have a pair that I would occasionally put on as entertainment for my sweetie, but he never expected me to actually walk around in them. If I left them on for more than 1/2 an hour, my feet would go completely numb. I'm always amazed when I see women in movies RUNNING in them!

What irritates me as well is that comfortable shoes always have big ugly, huge plastic soles and heels. Why can't someone invent comfortable shoes that are light and have smart soles/heels? Clarks make good shoes, but I often find them too heavy to wear with comfort.

I've always wondered if I have weird shaped feet or do other women just buy shoes they like the look of and endure the pain?

I think that anyone who can walk in heels is hard core, especially stillettos. But honestly, I hate it when women decide to wear heels in bad weather (especially when it's icy). And I can't stand seeing women struggle and wobble around the terrain of the city (especially on cobblestone roads). Like, why!? What's the point!? Don't wear them if you can't walk in them properly. That's why I don't wear them - I like my ankles too much.

Yes I were heels long time ago but as I get an older I only used them during occasion and prefer to wear flat to avoid pain in my big toe.
