I have a new kitten. She is by turns endearing, amusing, and exasperating. lol :P

One night, I couldn't sleep and neither could she. I sat there, smoking, and told her what I know of the legend of how cats came to be in Egypt, as a sort of bedtime story. She sat there very attentively the whole time, absorbing every word... about the annual flooding of the Nile which would bring the black, rich earth, and the massive grain crops and granaries of the Egyptians. I told her about how mice were held to spring from the banks of the river Nile (hu-mus...think about it), and how they would eat so much grain the people were in danger of famine. I told her of Bast, the goddess of cats, and how the cats came and would enthusiastically devour the mice.

Afterwards, she curled up and went to sleep. Shortly thereafter, so did I.

I have 3 cats, Mirana, Tsahaylu, and Eowyn, and being w/ them are my most peaceful, content moments. They cuddle w/ me, sleep w/ me, follow me around. Tsahaylu used to sit on my shoulder while I'd get ready for work before he got too big, so now he and Eowyn sit on my bathroom counter or the toilet and watch me while I get ready and follow me around sweetly. I LOOVe them. In college I was depressed w/o a pet--fish didn't cut it. So senior year I snuck in a rabbit. Def. helped.
