Nope. Fidelity just isn't his strong suit. For added weirdness, Loki is also the mother of Odins horse.

Dont see a mention of Hel in the wiki page.

Probably Garm, the dog that guards the entrance to the underworld, and completely original and different from any other dogs in similar positions you've ever heard of.

cool! I'll remember that

The wiki page has Sygn as Loki's wife (hence the need for correction)

She is. Like I said, Loki isn't big on the whole fidelity thing. He and Angrboda spawned Hel, Fenris and the Midgard Serpent, and in order to cheat on a bet he decided to turn into a mare and seduce a horse. The he had to stay a mare unti he gave birth to Sleipnir, Odins eight-legged horse.

their stories always put me off-- but i was always called Medusa by my brothers and mother. (my mom joined in most taunting, she thinks girls shouldn't have too high of a self-esteem because life is gonna break it anyway so if u have little to begin with it's 'easier to adjust' i.e. not as painful  )
also, Mother Gothel from Tangled, but she is just a witch.

actually the only one I do like is Athena except for what she did to Medusa which makes NO sense - but nothing ever does in mythology. I know Medusa is basically a monster (considered to be) but she was maybe the one person I had a soft spot for in Greek mythology because she did NOT deserve it at ALL.

i've read all kinds of mythology, even went through a phase of reading aboriginal peoples' mythology in n. america and places like papua new guinea.. i do remember Pele and remember hating her.
but mythology in general is hard to remember, it just becomes too random too fast.

I actually hated Athena for what she did to poor Medusa too. I agree she did not deserve her fate, and for her involvement in the sacking of Troy during the Trojan War.

In fact that is precisely why I liked Hestia the most. She never hurt anybody and was considered the protector of the home. Followers of Hestia were expected to open their homes to those in need of a place of a place to rest. Being selfish and refusing hospitality to the needy was considered an offense to her.

Unlike the other vindictive goddesses, Hestia seemed more kindly and docile.

I also liked Artemis and her brother Apollo. She was a tomboy Goddess of Hunting and he was an effeminate God of Music..

It illustrates the human-like foibles of the Greek/Roman gods. Athena was clearly jealous of the beauty of medusa and Zeus's dalliance was too much....her curse was petty but also illustrates that if you give godlike powers to beings who act like children then they will reek deadly vengeance over the smallest transgression.

Was Freya Odin's wife or Thors? also how come the thoroughly christianised Anglo-Saxons retained the religious days for the old gods? namely Odin's day, Thor's day and Freya's day??

But I guess that's what made the Pantheons so fascinating. They were neither good nor evil and had very human characteristics that were magnified by their powers and immortality.

Fankly I'd rather honor them than I would an Abrahamic God who pretends to be good (in my opinion). No offense meant.
