I might start growing mine long again at somepoint. Nail polish is my art. I draw things on my nails a lot, scenery, shapes, etc., just with the tiny amount of space. Not so much room with shorter nails.

Nine inch nails? Not!! topic

I cut mine very short every two days, except my right thumb nail. It has a very unusual shape so I let it grow for four days before I cut it down.

Strange.

I use to have them fairly long, even when I focused on piano. But now that I play bass, I keep them short.

I keep them long, because ever since I remember I have had extremely sensitive fingertips and if I don't have nails protecting them, I cannot touch anything. too uncomfortable. I even gave up playing the piano because I couldn't have my fingernails cut. same goes for nail varnish - can't wear it because I feel like my nails are suffocating. does it sound strange? I have never talked about this to anyone.

I like mine long, but do I care enough to stop biting them, and to properly care for them?... no, so they're short, very short.

Mine used to be long (or intermediate, as the ends of mine would come off) but now I keep them shorter because I don't want to scratch my baby when I pick him up.

The lunas are the whitish half-moon-shaped part at the base of the nail near the cuticle. I'm not sure what the white part that extends past the fingertip is called.

I keep my nails short. I used to play trumpet on a daily basis, so long nails were never a good idea. I also spend a lot of time typing, and I was never one of those people who could type with just the pads of my fingertips. Also, long nails tend to impede other...activities.

V Long...I get nail extensions, and paint them differnt colours. They are electric pink atm, and last week they were bright blue. I think I'll go for yellow next time....or maybe rainbow coloured ( different colour each nail) .

I like them long even though I can't type very well, they make my hands look smaller...and I can then blame my clumsiness / messy handwriting on them too.

In between. That way they're short enough so I can still play piano properly but long enough where they look nice if I decide to paint them.
