My God. Yet again another of my oddities explained. Reseaching Asperger's on the net is like having someone explain my entire life to me.

As a child I sucked my hair (it was long). I was told I would end up with a ball of hair in my stomach and would need an operation to remove it. But I didn't! Take that, NT world!

Oh, and I still chew everything. I'm like a puppy, though I tend to leave shoes alone

Yes I used to chew my hair... and suck on it >.< And I do twirl my hair, and recently I started to chew it again, I don't know why. But now I cut it so hopefully it wont be as easy to chew it and the habit will disappear again :)

My mother had to have my hair cut to ear length to keep me from chewing it. That helped me break the habit. I also specifically remember kids at school mocking me by twirling their own hair.

I did chew/suck on my hair in kindergarten, I remember. I've always twirled it or run my fingers obsessively through it. I've been accused of flirting, in the sense that I was "grooming" while talking to someone of the opposite sex... but it's not something I'm even aware of, most of the time. I'm still learning, but I think, for me, it's a stim.

As a child I used to twirl my hair so much I got bald patches. Then, my mother cut it short. I still like to run my fingers through it and press it against my lips; I like the texture.

I used to chew and suck my hair, until I was about 11 or 12. I remember being told about a girl who did this, and she died, and when they opened her up they found a ball of hair in her stomach. I doubt that story was true, but at the time it scared me enough to stop doing it. I still bite my fingernails, and pull and fiddle with my hair and scalp a lot though.

I did fiddle with and chew my hair! I'd forgotten all about that, and this poll jogged my memory...

I also had a habit of chewing on the collar of my polo shirt quite obsessively. It did earn me a few telling-offs at school...

Yeah. I went through a short phase of really chewing my hair as a teen.. but only mildly so and twirling it other than that. It wasn't as fun as my other habits I guess!

I used to twirl my hair, but never chewed it. Actually, I used to sit for hours with my hair flipped forward while I counted every strand and rubbed.
