I'm not diagnosed, but my son was at age 6.

I just wanted to say that before I even read your post I was wondering about your avatar. I thought it might be a photo of a lace shawl or something like that. I really like it. I'm very into spirals, and they appear in my own artwork a lot---although I don't really have any talent to speak of.

Your daughter is clearly very talented. :)

I was 11 but my parents and teachers suspected a while before then, it would have been better if I was diagnosed earlier on in primary school, so I didn't have to have the "difficult kid" label for all that time.
I remember the night I was told about it, I was watching that documentary about the family where all the boys are on the spectrum to varying degrees, I watched the documentary 2 years before when it was first aired. Anyway when the programme finished my mum told me that I had been diagnosed a few weeks before, I remember feeling intrigued and I wanted to find out more.

I'm 22 (will be 23 on the 26th of February) and I was diagnosed on Saturday.
However, I have suspected I had ASD for years, ever since I saw a documentary on Autism when I was about eleven or twelve.
I wish I'd been diagnosed earlier.

I was 27. I think the earlier for dx the better. Probably the hardest part is that your daughter thinks autism/AS looks only like what her brother has. Girls are very different. I didn't think I could be autistic for ages because all I'd seen were severe cases, but I'd always been great with autistic kids and now I see it's because we're on the same wavelength!

I was diagnosed several days ago, I'm 19 years old. A professional asked about it when I was 12/13 and my parents didn't think the diagnosis fit, and I began researching it then.

I was diagnosed last month. I'm 29. My son was diagnosed at 34 months and it's been about a year and a few month after his diagnosis.

I was diagnosed at 21 (didn't see many doctors before I saw some psychologists and psychiatrists starting at age 20 for depression and they thought I was psychotic for awhile). My diagnosis recently was changed from Asperger's to autism.

I was 12 when diagnosed. So I've been diagnosed now for half my life.

I was 19. It was two days ago and I feel good - confused like a cat caught in the dry tumbler - but goooood.
For some reason I'm glad I wasn't diagnosed too early. I did fine in school - it's only after attending "college" (Danish system - not the same - hmm ) everything just fell apart, and suddenly it wasn't enough just being a good student, that and the pressure became far too much for me to handle. I was ready to get my diagnosis now.
