ooh.. i love gothic chicks...! :) j/k

i used to listen to heavy metal & used to be hardcore & stuff.. wearing black all the time and with rude sayings on my t-shirt etc.. the works... since then i've gone all soft.. :P now for some reason i can't stand to wear anything that has even a bit of black in it... :P the shoes are the worst... u can't get a pair of mens trainers in dubai that doesn't have some stupid black stripes or looking like they're made of shiny hard plastic...

the womens shoes on the other hand... all kinds of nice colors.. and with a matte finish.. :(((

its surprising what guys will put up with just to reassure themselves that they're not "gay" .. :P

oh yeah u betcha that has a lot to do with it... in these macho middle-eastern societies, looks are everything.. in south india (where i'm originally from), if a guy doesn't have a moustache, he's prolly gay or so everyone thinks... and most people here in dubai too have moustaches.. i hate them.. blech

I've been accused of it before, but most goths don't wear the amount of forest greens, purples, etc. that I do.

I end up accused of it more because of my biological characteristics, not dress. lol. (Pale, dark hair, widow's peak, and so on.)

No, I'm nowhere near as poetic as that. When I am in a forest, I usually walk with a measured, purposeful step while watching for obstacles. Better that than trip over something stupid and slide halfway down a hillside... which I have done before. My fiance jokes that when the forest has been rendered somewhat slimy by frequent rain, you can track me very easily by 'following the bouncing "Goddamn!" '. lol. :P

No, no vampire teeth. Barring four missing toothbuds, my dentition is normal.

As for a picture, I really can't help you at the moment. My camera has gone AWOL. lol.

My name... long story behind that. It started on the Malkavian Mailing List in ... 1996, I believe it was? It started as Witch Hazel, as a handle.

The handle grew to encompass a sweet lil pekingese dog I had at the time who was nicknamed Wudi, so it became Hazel and Wudi.

Eventually, the phrase shrank to become Hazelwudi, and I have carried the name forth in online communities ever since.

lol... i envy you, over here we don't have any forests or anything.. :( just some fake weeds... and when they grow really big we call them trees... :(

lol j/k no it isn't as bad as all that, but still i remember prancing about in the forests like the wood faeries in south india... but now.. :P it's just sand dunes everywhere... with high-rise buildings inbetween.. :P and it's hot here.. the temp can go as high as 46 degrees celcious... and in this kind of heat i can't use air-conditioning cos i'm allergic to it.. :P

kinda funny, that when i was young and in school in india, the toilets were so dirty and blocked and backed up and worse, that it was standard practice to just tear out some pages from our notebooks, go into the woods and take care of business there..! LOL so while prancing about you had to be careful not to step in something.. :P

it's a good thing you weren't born in south india.. cos then when you were bouncing in the forest you'll prolly land in somethings on the way down and "goddamn" just wouldn't cut it... LOL

malkavian mailing list huh? reminds me of something, something related to vampires.. the computer game "Vampire - the masquerade"... anyways, so are u a wiccan...? this is pretty strange, but I actually thought of wicca the moment you said "forest greens".. lol :) maybe it was the way you said it...

so what happened to the doggy? i have a cat named Teo.. she's slightly ferrel or something cos she has a mean streak.. but most times she's pretty nice...

i mean to go to a dentist and have my wisdom teeth removed.. i rembember reading that humans have more teeth than their mouths can hold, so the appearance of the wisdom teeth causes all the teeth to scrunch up together and get bent all out of shape & become crooked... :( i removed one, but haven't had any free time after that

The original thrust behind the Malkavian Mailing List was Vampire: The Masquerade, an RPG put out by White Wolf, in both pen and paper form. The Malkavians were one of the vampire clans in that... the crazy ones. The Malkavian mailing list was mostly a collection of roleplayers, who generally favored playing Malkavians in their games.

Daniel Greenburg was one of the developers of the rpg line, and a member of the Malkavian Mailing List. (Or should I say nlist... silent n? It's an old joke there, heh.) He helped design the computer game, Vampire the Masquerade : Redemption. In the summers, anyone on the list who could make it would come to wherever we had decided to meet irl. One time it was Washington, DC. Another time, it was New York. On one of these, we went over and partied at Dan Greenburg's house, lol.

If you have a copy of the computer game floating around, listen carefully to Dev/Null's ranting. That ranting incorporates the computer handles of everyone who was an elder on the Malkavian Mailing List at the time. Erehwon was the founder of the list, Parr, Derf, Chance, bv172, Random, Alik, the fiend, Ria, Badger, etc.... he managed to name most of us.

And me, in the older form of my handle. Witch Hazel. I remember when I first saw that... strange emotional combination of paranoia, vexation, and being pleased. lol.

The dog is long since dead. Her endocrine system basically blew up, and we had to have her put down. My poor, dead little Wudi. :(

As I understand the bit with the teeth, it was an evolutionary adaptation. Usually by the time they appeared (early to mid 20's), prehistoric humans had already lost a few teeth, and so had room for them and use for them. I am missing the two on my bottom row... I had no toothbuds for them. There was enough leftover space on my top row for those two to grow in without incident, although I've never lost any teeth.

The other two missing toothbuds were two premolars, both on the bottom row. Because of this, my 'baby teeth' there were never lost in those two locations... there was no tooth behind them. The premolars on the top row grew down slightly further to compensate. It fits together perfectly, but is somewhat odd still at two spots on the sides. Fortunately this is not obvious, being on the sides of my mouth. I remember it gave my dentist pause, though.... he had me bite down on the carbon paper stuff to check alignment three times in one visit, and seemed very intrigued by the x-rays he took. After the third time, I finally asked him what the deal was. "Your bite is perfect... but ... normally teeth don't compensate like this..." ROFL, thanks a lot. :P

I'm not Wiccan... although I have to say I applaud their general ritual structure. It is efficient. Think of most Western ceremonial magic and all the crap you need... the highly formalized Golden Dawn type stuff. Who wants to have to pack all that crap around?

well not really unless u come across a "snake charmer".. those are cruel things.. they remove the snakes teeth & tie its mouth closed, etc... :P blech

people in that part of the world aren't really very enlightened.. upon seeing a snake, it's traditional to get everyone together with huge-ass sticks and beat the thing to a bloody pulp... :P sorry

lol i knew it... VTMR is one of my all-time favorite games... i played it twice all the way through... my favorite part was the transition from the dark ages to modern london(?) the transition was just spectacular...! everything changed from then on.. the decor, weapons etc.. wow

another thing i liked about the game was the voices... amazing stuff... and the language too... very precise

the sequel really didn't live up ... i didn't even bother to finish the game...! :P amazing how a small efficient simple engine like the one used in VTMR could tell a story so well

i don't have the game anymore but it should be easy enough to download it... maybe someday i'll play it again...! and to think.. having your nickname in the game like that... wow..! i wish i was there!

lol :) my teeth are a little crooked.. and i should care for them more ... i should visit a dentist sometime soon... i also been thinking of wearing braces...

kinda funny to think that in prehistoric times, the life expectancy was about 25 years old LOL...! i'd be dead 5 years by now...!

yeah i do like all their nature-friendly rituals & things... some of them have some ultra feminism thing going on but most are ok i suppose...! i actually thought of becoming wiccan when i had that crisis with christianity... after that i looked to satanism would you believe... i did like their philosophy though.... in the end i just became an atheist... what happened to me is pretty much like this briliant paragraph i found in the satanism site:

"Of all the truths in the world, if you select one and follow it blindly, it becomes a falsehood and you a fanatic. There is but one absolute truth - there are no absolute truths! However, perhaps one can often arrive at that quiet place in the center, having traveled both extremes.

So, read on and May the Flames of Hell scorch and illuminate your immortal soul."

i would say the most inefficient rituals are in roman catholicism... :P

Honestly I dress like I have for the last decade and a half pretty much, ever since my mom stopped having a say in what I wore. T-shirts, shorts in the summer, jeans or khakis, sweats at home, turtlenecks in the cold months, baggy sweatshirts in the same, whatever coat I can find, and gym shoes, sandals, or boots depending on the weather. I prefer black, blue or tan in clothing. Wear a lot of computer company type shirts. I wear button-downs to interviews. So I pretty much dress like a guy other than the occasional desire to wear a skirt. (Although I usually wear shorts under because I can't bear for my legs to rub together.) So no I don't follow fashion. I'm not even aware of it unless it annoys me.

I have absolutely no interest in fashion. I wear what I like and what feels comfortable. If that happens to be what's fashionable at the moment, that's all well and good. If it doesn't - tough.

The most baffling thing to me about fashion is how people will be all, "Oh, my God!" and literally pointing and laughing at a particular item of clothing one year. Then, three or four years later, a virtually identical item comes into fashion, and they're running out to buy them and gushing about how cool and wonderful they are, as if they'd had their memories wiped.

This is the sort of thing that scares me a little about NTs - their susceptibility to total brainwashing; the 'hive mind' which they subscribe to so deeply they become incapable of distinguishing adopted thoughts and opinions from their own.

I realise they all do it because evryone else is, and that's just how fashions work (in fact, I'm quite curious as to how it started/who started this one), but this bead thing does seem to be a particularly nasty one. I'd only previously seen them in clothes/accessories shops occasionally, sometimes in second hand shops, but I don't think I'd seen anyone wearing one before. I always thought they looked rather tasteless, and still do - and the amazing thing is, many of the young girls wearing them this summer probably also thought they were tasteless last summer. (When everyone was wearing gypsy skirts.)

So, do you follow trends and fashions? If so, why, and if not, why not? And what's your opinion on those who do and those who don't, as well as the concept in general?

I used to wear a load of those beads but for other reasons than fashion- I watched a documentary about poor women in Africa making those beads from recycled plastic and paper, so I bought a bunch and the actually looked very nice :D (beadsforlife.org I think, sorry for the advert mods but it's a charity!)

anyways, I don't really follow trends. I do realise however, that there is a certain savoir-vivre about how you should not look for a certain occasion.

plus, many things start looking ridiculous after their time and wearing them makes you look like you got stuck in another epoch ;p

Can't make sense of it. Plastic beads, leggings, gypsy skirts, dingly-dangly bracelets....AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!! !! !

Fashion stores seem to make clothes for women with a) no boobs, b) no hips, c) no butt.

Which means...you need to be a man to wear those clothes :P Kidding. One of my male friends has a nicely shaped bubble butt. Good for making saleable paintings; female customers tend to buy a LOT of those, at least...

I agree with the super thin part. Ever seen a size zero? I swear to God they look like they can be blown away by the slightest breeze...or snap in two when you hug them 8O

well, i follow up mostly on the emo-goth-punk-indie-hipster fashion because i find them fascinating. 5 yrs. ago, i used to dress up like i was stuck in the 1970s. but now that i've become a dark soul and graduated from fashion school, i follow whatever tickles my fancy.

My style, overall, tends to be classic. When I was younger I wore some weird stuff, though. Stuff that would horrify the hosts of "What Not to Wear". Flower pants, for instance. (I liked the flower design on the pants and the feel of the fabric.)

Nowadays I rarely wear anything beyond the basics due to a tight budget, but if I do wear a trendy item, I'm at least one season behind, and sometimes I'm behind by a few years. And (gasp!) I only own a few pairs of shoes (for a woman, that's almost a sin). And they're nearly all practical shoes. Comfort and practicality seem to dominate my boring fashion choices most of the time.

I fail to see the point of acting stupid.

Plus half the fashions seem to be made for super skinny people. It just encourages anorexia.

I wear what I want. I generally start off by finding fabrics that feel nice, and then styles that I like. Arm warmers, a hat, T-shirt and jeans with a pair of trainers; thats my stle ;)

i think that more than half of fashion is made for skinny people
