The other day for my meeting. I slicked my black hair straight back into a ponytail, did a smokey eye, adding some bronzer to even out my sunburn and add definition, and used a natural shade lip gloss. Then I wore all black. With my glasses on, it was a great Sprockets look.

Ironically, I got a lot of compliments on it.

seriously we did this for our family Xmas portrait a couple of years back (husband wore a suit though). my daughter and i had black turtlenecks, black pants, smokey eyes. i slicked my hair back, as did my husband. we were rigidly posed in front of a wall of graffiti (so festive!). we did the unsmiling serious look too.

Judging by the photos many of the guys have posted in the member photo section, I don't think they look that bad. I'd consider most of them 5/10-7/10

From what I've seen, most on this site fall under that umbrella.

General comment for anyone in the thread using the x/10 system, shame on you:

Oay, so lets take a bunch of people who are already feeling a bit or lot different and then reduce them even further by rating them out of 10

Sound idea...sheesh

Moving on.....

Honestly, I don't mind it. We have to realize that we all have our own scale and it's non-translatable to anyone else. My 10 is not another person's 10. Their 10 is probably most doubtfully my 10. It's all about finding that 10.

All about finding the 10? :?

Physical appearance isn't that important to me.

Anyone looking for a 10 should be sentenced to be with another person looking for a 10, so that they can share their common interest in narcissism, and get out of the pool the rest of us average people swim in. Less sharks works for me.

Superficiality is not attractive.

I am quite happy with the way I look, and don't need anyone else's approval. I would rather that people didn't regard me as 'hot'. As far as I am concerned I usually make some effort with my appearance because it makes me feel more confident when I am wearing make-up and my hair isn't greasy, and I like my image to in some way reflect my personality. I have bright pink hair because I think it looks cool - if others think it looks stupid that is their problem, they don't have to look. Some days I will wear something quite pretty, other days I wear black band t-shirt and jeans depending on my mood.

I used to just wear baggy clothes all the time, never wore make-up and I gradually started to grow out of it and I found I felt loads more confident when I made a bit of an effort with my appearance. I have gender identity issues and think I was very against dressing feminine because I wanted others to view me as male; I consider myself 75%male, but I find it very liberating to now be able to admit 'oh I like that skirt' and not worry about what anyone else thinks of me for not fitting a stereotype, and for being able to accept my body and no longer feel repulsed by my biological sex. Society has all kinds of stupid expectations of what people should look like, and only by ignoring them have I managed to make peace with myself. It's about how you feel about yourself, not what others think of you.

Since I already explained that personality increases a person's attractiveness and it's not all about appearance, I'm not sure why you and aspyoz are having a farty time comprehending my comment without rebuking the evils of physical appearance...?! When everything's already in writing, I get annoyed having to repeat myself, especially around people I know can read. :P

yep, i can read just fine

personally all im commenting on is your use of scale, thats it.

im trying to make a point that scale or ratings create arbitrary divisions that neednt be there and are ultimately self centred and self serving, but have the ability to reduce those you apply the scale to to that of lesser beings.

and with that im outie

Yes, I can read. I just don't understand why finding a 10 is so important. It's about as useful to most people as a list of characteristics their partner must have. It limits your choices and makes you seem rather shallow.

Even if you do include personality in the rating.

YippySkippy... not very funny. At all. :-|

I'm boggled why someone wouldn't want to be with someone who they think is wonderful. That's what being a 10 is to me. My husband is a 10. He's not perfect (who is?!) but no matter what anyone else thinks of his personality or his appearance, he's my 10. Yeah, I could fill my bed with people I'm not wild about, but why the hell would I want to do that?! If a supposed 4 makes me feel wonderful and I enjoy spending time with them, they wouldn't really be a 4 then, would they?

Yeah. The only one I agreed with was ApsieGuy. I miss that adorable hobbit and his screwed up views about women.

Agree he posted a pic of a hot looking woman he was intrested in 8.5-9/10 in my eyes he gave her a 6 or 7 out of 10 If I recall correctly.

When he grows up he'll stop scoring woman and if he (partly) grows up he will give her a score closer to mine....
