Same.
Men, women, whoever. If someones hands are full, theres no way i'm making them open a door or gate if i'm around.
As far as men being over polite to women - I don't see it as respectful. I see it as "I want to root you so i'm going out of my way to be nice".
I don't give a crap if people don't pointlessly open a door for me. It is nice if they do when my hands are full though.

As for a guy ordering food for you.. if someone tried to do that for me I would tell them to butt out.

I'd tell her to eat it herself, she's also paying for it since I didn't order it.

But yeah, chivalry should die already. It's held on for too long and has been mostly replaced by it's better: common courtesy.

No, I meant that she better not expect me to pay for what she ordered for me. I also don't pay for other people's food, especially women because that would be chivalrous and we all hate that.

Oh. lol

IDK... I don't think paying for someone else's food is automatically chivalrous. When my husband and I were dating, I didn't have money. I was in a pretty bad place in life, and often times went days eating almost nothing because I didn't have the money for food.

Plus, he was always the one that asked me out on the date. So, naturally, he was expected to pay. Our genders had little to do with it.

I disagree with the bolded, when I get invited to go somewhere that will require payment I never expect that all expenses will be taken care of by whoever invited me. That's just me though, I don't know what kind of arrangement you and your husband have.

*shrug* That's the general assumption. If we're invited somewhere, we ask about payment because we don't want to assume. I did the same when we were dating. He just told me "If I ask you out, assume I'm paying".

I know not everyone sees it that way, but it's just the way it was for us. For many reasons, really. Chivalry had nothing to do with it.

That's fair. I suppose I associate it with the whole "the man is supposed to pay for the woman" nonsense.

If someone orders me food without me asking them to, I expect them to pay.

I always pay for my own orders.

My boyfriend generally orders because I have so many troubles with ordering. I try the point at the menu technique, but I just end up stumbling all over my words anyway. He doesn't do it unless I ask, though. But I'm almost always the one to pay when we go out, and it has been that way for a few years. Which might be part of why he's okay with ordering for me. It's like when we're at the grocery store - if I'm paying, he has to put the stuff up on the counter. If he's paying, I do it.

I would be really offended and leave if I were in a restaurant and the guy tried to order for me.
