I was 11. I cried because I didn't want to grow up.

I was 16 – almost 17 – and it wasn't even a proper period then, only a bit of a brown discharge. It kind of built up over the first year to the difficult to control flooding that was normal for me. Until I read this thread I'd never come across anyone who'd started as late as me, so I always felt a bit of a freak in this department. I can't believe that I used to yearn to have periods so I didn't feel so left out among the girls at school!! Mine stopped at 47, so I didn't have nearly as many years of it as some women. I'm sooo glad I didn't start at 8 or 9, though, I'd probably have been unable to tell my Mum and I'd had no education about it at that time (we got that at age 11). I'd have wondered what on earth was wrong with me, and would probably have assumed I'd done something wrong.

I was 11. I called my mom in and told her. Reading the teeny magazines my friends bought taught me all I needed to know :P

I was 10, the first girl in my class i think. They were regular right from the first and still are.

My puberty was early. By the time I was 12 i had a full C-cup and i wasn't even overweight, felt really ashamed by it back then for some reason.

I know how that feels. I was myself a C cup when I was about 10. It was very embarrassing during P.E in the locker room. I was the only one in my class.

Everyone else complained about their small breasts and i felt ashamed of mine. At that time i realized i was really different from the other girls.
Locker-rooms are awful, never got naked in one and never showered after P.E. I'm glad i never have to go in one anymore.

Now I've learned to like what i have and make the best of it.

I am 66 and I never have had a single one. Whatever do you suppose could be the reason?

In a serious blow to my childhood, I got it in the bathroom at the movie theater the night my mom took me to see the little mermaid. I was 11.

Is it odd not to remember?

You all seem to know almost to the day. I honestly have no idea.

I'm guessing somewhere between the age of 12 and 15ish.

Had it not been for the little mermaid, I would not have remembered. I really had to think about it. And then I was like oh yeah...

Yes I got my period when I was in a grocery store with mom and dad. That's why I remember it.
