I sort of wear makeup.

Sometimes. If I remember. Or have time before I leave the house or remember to put a bit on while in transit. Not much. I like to wear a little though as I look nicer with it on and it can be pretty. But I have poor fine motor skills so it has to be good stuff that is easy to put on.

I do however, care about my hair. I have nice hair. I never blow dry it. But I do condition it and so forth and sometimes attempt a style (rather than say, just brushing the hair) and things to make it look good. And I sometimes I wear jewelry other than my wedding and engagement ring and I like to do that-- about half the time I do that.

So I say I'm a 50% makeup person. Not a lot of makeup, but makeup.

I don't like wearing make-up and "girly" clothes (skirts, dresses, fancy blouses, . . .).

Sometimes I have to wear it, but it's umconfortable for me.

I also baby my hair - with a low-maintence routine. No hair dryer and I wash it every few days - as opposed to daily. Use a lot of leave-in. Usually just have it in a loose ponytail. I only recently got addicted to highlights but my stylist knows I'm anal about healthy hair over style.

I don't really like wearing jewelry - other than the wedding rings and a couple others I have gathered. I play with them and look at them when I'm antsy. They have to be pretty idiot-proof. Inset - no raised stones. Only because I don't want to have to worry about them. Very active and messy with my hands.

Other than that - I have even given up on earrings. Not because of how they feel but for some reason, about a year ago - I decided they looked weird. Out of place on the human head. At least this one. Purely a visual hang up. If I "have to" - I wear simple pearl posts.

I always wear a simple necklace - usually a good-luck charm. Right now it's an angel. Its a brush with breast cancer thing. I know - CHEESY!! !

I wear makeup when I can be bothered, or when I want to make an impression.
I sometimes wear it to school, and sometimes I don't
But yeah, I have a male brain according to the test I done at my doctors :S but I'm straight, if that makes sense

I like pretty stuff, so I like to put pretty stuff on me. Being attractive to the opposite (and same) sex is important to me; I won't lie. :)

I think its a myth that women dress just for guys. I've heard that women mostly dress for other women (at least women who dress nicely or funky or whatever). Not in "that" way.

It's a balance - you want to look cute but not like a slut.

Like boots with a dress. Or a tank top with baggy pants. Or a sweater and layers with a short skirt. Or a flowy top with skinny jeans.

^ I agree. I am likely to dress up for a guy if it is a special occasion or something of the like but if I know there are going to be other females around, I am more likely to try to look my best. I guess it's a silly competition thing... ? I'm not sure exactly. It seems to me like I'm actually worried that girls are more ciritical because they know what looks good and what is fasionable (which I don't really...) so I am afraid I'm going to be judged as sub par by them. Guys are easy to please :P

I'm the ultimate "lipstick aspie." Well I'm not exactly an aspie, more of an autie.

One of my persistant obsessions ever since childhood was makeup. I used to get and my mother's or aunt's makeup bags and slather the stuff all over my face. There are some pretty funny pictures of a very blond two-year-old me with a face covered in red lipstick or blue eyeshadow.

When I got a little older (around 6 or 7) I got very interested in what makeup was actually made of. Not just makeup....shampoo, soap, nail polish, my dad's shaving cream and aftershave. I noticed some of the same ingredients were used in similar products....like shampoo and my mom's facial cleanser both contained sodium laureth sulfate and cocamidopropyl betaine. I noticed that her liquid foundation and her facial moisturizer both contained stearic acid and something called triethanolamine....and these ingredients always occured together. Then I'd notice that similar products often had similar ingredients. Like hair conditioners always had stearamidopropyl dimethylamine and things like stearyl alcohol or cetyl alcohol. Moisturizers often had the same ingredients but in slightly different orders on the ingredient listing (I'd later find out that meant they were in different concentrations). My mom used got annoyed in a store when I'd get lost in the personal care isles and just sit there reading ingredient labels....I'd have a tantrum when she was ready to leave.

I grew up and I became a cosmetic scientist. I formulate cosmetics...all day I'm around those ingredients. I get to feel different formulas. Silicones are my favorite....so soft and slippery.

My application skills have gotten much better since I used to raid my mom's makeup bag when I was a toddler. actually I've gotten so good at it that I teach my neurotypical cowokers and boss how to properly use makeup brushes when we have to apply makeup at work to evaluate it.

I have a modest collection of MAC and Stila eyeshadows and an impressive collection of brushes. I prefer powder liners applied with a brush. I do sometimes wear the same look over and over though. I don't like to wear foundation, I just use a little bit of concealer if I need it. I don't like the feel of lipstick, or anything sticky on my lips, so I use stains for color and sheer slippery glosses for shine. I work at a big cosmetics company so I get a lot of makeup for free.

All that being said. I don't need to wear makeup all the time. I can leave the house with no makeup on at all. When I get into a funk, and I lose interest in everything and I get really lazy I won't wear makeup at all for months. When I feel better I like to put makeup on.

That's the most exciting post I've read in awhile! Wow! You work at a cosmetic company? I'm so jealous.

Pretty cool story about the little chemistry genius you were as a child! I don't have any of your chemistry talents but I do like to think I'm a decent make-up artist. For me, it's like painting a picture but with powdery substances rather than liquid. The blending and shadowing and highlighting is exactly the same as painting watercolor.

And I am obsessed with make-up brushes. I have learned that they are just as important as the make-up itself. Agree with you on powdered eye-liner, but I'm still practicing. I usually get frustrated and just use liquid. (Not using pencils much these days)

I have found one lipstick I like, a sheer - it's Revlon's Shiney Sheers. It feels good and I can apply it without a mirror so I just keep it in my pocket. Plus, its Revlon so when I lose one or run one through the dryer - I'm not crying. If I see them on sale for like $4, I'll stock up.

How exciting to have a cosmetic chemist among us!

I really like applying eye shadows and using base/lid colors, crease colors, and highlighting and blending with brushes.....except on me it's very difficult. I have very deep set, completley hooded almond shaped eyes...that happen to be so dark brown they appear black. A dark smokey look just makes my eyes look little and beady. I really have no visible crease, so a crease color is kinda pointless on me...I often skip that step. Oh...and I can't line my upper lash line at all, because the color will transfer to my upper lids in a matter of minutes (even with a long wearing formula full of film formers). Actually since my eyes are small and very dark I look better with no liner on the top lash line and just mascara....a MAC makeup artist with similar small hooded eyes taught me that.

I like Revlon Shiny Sheers too. It's similar to MAC Slimshine lipstick (even a little lighter), and like 1/3 of the price. I can get away with very sheer slippery lipsticks, but they don't wear very well. I don't mind reapplying often though. It's better than having something heavy or sticky on my lips...or something that makes my lips feel tight and dry.

I would wear it if I didn't get such a bad reaction from it. 3 days of itchy skin that sometimes peels is not worth it.

I don't care for fashion, but I do wear some make-up. And sometimes quite bright lipstick - Which tends to look a bit mismatched with my casual clothes! :P

I only wear Bare Minerals because it doesn't irritate my skin or feel like I'm wearing makeup, and it has the sunblock as well. I wear lipstick that's designed to last all day, and some mascara.

bit of an all or nothing poll ;)

"Absolutely! I won't leave the house without at least a little make-up"

I wear no make up sometimes.. if I have chapped lips I'll wear a little to stop them getting worse and bleeding. Sometimes I'm really pale and so will wear it so I don't look like a zombie.. and very rarely I get glammed up but I have to be "in charactor" to do that.

Despite the generally scruffy clothing, I usually wear foundation. I have to - I need the SPF, even in rainy Britain!
On occasions where I have to look smart (interviews, court sessions, conferences) I may wear more makeup, but not lipstick! Ick! It just feels horrible, and comes off on my coffee cups!
Fortunatly, in my chosen career, I will be spending most of my working life in scruffy combats & workboots. Except for the times I have to wear suits. Grrr!
