I am tomboyish. I do wear dresses (only when I'm going out ) and makeup (light handed) tho. Unlike other girls around me, I'm not interested in collecting designer handbags, high heels, and jewelry. I also don't pay much attention to my hair.

Why is it always one extreme to the other, you're either a tomboy or a girly-girl? Why can't female people be a healthy balance of both? I guess until they invent a label to slap onto us with, if they haven't already (tom-girl? girl-boy?, tammy-boy?) I'll have to find other ways to describe how I am. Also I think there's more to being a tomboy than just liking "boy" things like playing baseball or not wearing dresses. I heard that it has something to do with the girl fetus being exposed to male hormones in the womb or something like that. :? And my mother is "tomboyish" too I guess, because she didn't like dolls as a kid (but she liked stuffed animals), and she doesn't have to own dozens of shoes or purses (I use a hands-free shoulder bag, much more practical but still stylish). And she's the manager at a scrap-metal-recycling place where, as I like to tell people, she tells a bunch of big strong men in hard-hats what to do, including my dad.

I am more like a tom-boy, but I was never into sports. I don't like anything girly, and I still don't like the color pink (but magenta is okay).

My mom had a terrible time getting me dressed up...oh, those stupid shoes and frilly dresses. It was always a fight to get me dressed for special occasions. Yuck! I still wear sneakers and jeans every day.

I was always more interested in what guys were doing and talking about, as long as it wasn't sports - but still, I didn't really fit in with the guys either.

I always liked more nerdy stuff like technical things, science and computers...and of course music. I'd much sooner hang out with my dad in the garage while he was fixing something rather than spend time with my mom while she was cooking and cleaning. I like the smell of gasoline and oil and sawdust.

When I figured out how to hook up my dad's stereo to other electronic music player components, I was in heaven.

I hated dolls, make-up, jewelry, pocketbooks, dresses, perfume, etc. When I was young, I loved Matchbox cars, Breyer model horses, Hot Wheels, and one of my favourite things to do outside was breaking rocks. I'd find a large rock and break smaller rocks because I liked to see what was on their insides.

Even now, the only make-up I usually wear is eyeliner otherwise I look like someone erased my face. *lol*

I am a mixture. I clean up pretty good Im told, but as soon as the event or evening is over off go those dress up clothes and makeup and on goes the sweats or lounge pants. I think the worlds way too big and too interesting to worry about the color of my lipstick and if my bra and panties match or my nails are perfectly done. Besides I have a family and little is left over for all those expenisve and time consuming makeup, clothing and hair pursuits. BTW does anyone else feel uncomfortable getting their hair cut or done, but would love to have an apt? I trim my own as it's a simple style, but would love to have it highlighted like my sister *who makes boo coo bucks* does.
I do actually enjoy cars, the outdoors, traveling and other male stuff. I hope my daughter is the same and marries someone who enjoys the mix like my dh. I think being tomboysih glamor girl is a perfect mix :)

I love handbags, perfume, make up but I'm definitely not a girly girl... I usually don't do girl stuff (getting my nails nicely done? what a waste of time!) and I don't like girl talk. I wear mostly jeans and boots and even if I tried really hard I could never look "sexy" haha. I don't want to, either.

I reckon Iam a little bit. I don't wear dresses/skirts that often I do like makeup, jewelry, girly colours etc. I like cute things like Hello Kitty, My Little Pony and yet I like horror/cult films, video games, comics, animation particulary stuff from my childhood. I love my electronic gadgets and geek culture. Have to say Im a bit of both.

I'm not a tom-boy. Always had very feminine interests.

I'm definitely androgynous by nature - wrap-around beanies, little make-up, dark clothes. I pull my hair back in a braid when I have company. For the longest, I fashioned a pixie and glasses. A little TMI, but I hate bras and skivvies. I do without them if I can... But, I've noticed, I can be perceived as girlish in social settings. My voice seems to become somewhat higher pitched around people, too.

Most of my friends consider me a tom-boy, but I think that's probably just because that part of me is a lot more obvious. Also, since most of my friends are guys, we mostly talk about boyish things.

I remember that when I was four, I absolutely refused to go to kindergarten because mom wanted me to wear a skirt that day.
I never liked dolls or other girly things. I loved to play with my toy cars and lego's.
I have always loved action hero cartoons and movies, still do.
When kids my age in grade-school were listening to Spice-girls, Britney and more, I was listening to Nirvana, Metallica, Offspring, Kiss and others like that.
There was always some kind of a collection thing going on when I was little. The girls collected Spice-girls cards and others like that. I collected Basketball cards, Pokemon, and others like that. Although, I collected a few Emma Spice-girl cards because I thought she was hot.
I don't wear any makeup, and never have. Well, apart for those times I was helping my sister through her studying. She's a cosmetic specialist.
I love cars and motorcycles.
I love tattoos.
I love rock.
I've had a short boyish hair almost my whole life and shaved my head for the first time when I was 6.
I've known a lot about cars almost my whole life.
I think I had a skirt a few years ago, but I don't think I ever used it.
Mom used to try make me practice a few girly sports. Dance, choir... etc, but the only thing I liked was when I practiced soccer for a year.
I love boxing, although I'm extremely anti-violence.
I love action/Sci-fi, horror movies.
I love video-games. The first game I ever played was Doom II, when I was about 9. I loved to set it on demo mode when I was going to sleep and watch it until I'd fall a sleep.
ETC, ETC.

On the other hand, I can knit, sow, crotchet and stuff like that.
I love wearing skinny-jeans and a t-shirt/tank-top.
I love dancing at the club when the mood is right.
I love colorful things.
I love kids, although I don't have any interest in having one of my own.
I love cute, fluffy and/or adorable things.

Well, I guess my boyish characteristics outweigh the others.

But a girl I know asked me once if I was a tom-boy. I thought about it for a minute and then I said that I wasn't. I'm just Ingz. I'm all sorts. (Igh, the last part sounds much better in Icelandic).

I am definitely a tom boy. I would get barbie dolls from my aunt I never met (she has health problems that make traveling and guests difficult), but I would use them as projectiles, tying them to the fan, and letting them hit the wall. I despise the colors pink and purple (but I now have two shirts with pink for breast cancer awareness events). I like martial arts, and climbing trees. I did not know how to put on any make up until I was 22. I have always enjoyed playing in the dirt and mud. I would watch teenage mutant ninja turtles as a kid, and I would eat with my brothers guy friends rather than girls at school.

I used to be a tomboy. But since a year and a half I'm getting to know my feminine side! And I am enjoying it!

I still don't wear the most girlish clothes or anything but I do something about my hair, some basis make up, wear jewerly each day untill it starts to bother me :P Stuff like that!

Moat of my interests are more boy stuff than girl stuff though..

I am doing a study in a technical degree and do a martial art.. stuff like that. I guess my only really girly hobby is making jewerly as it costs so much less! And most jewerly can be made by repetitive behavior and it seems to calm me down when I am busy with it!

I am a female that likes to look feminine these days but there is still a part of me I don't like and that I don't consider to be nice and femine at all. I don't get angry in the way most woman do. When I'm really pissed off with someone (for valid reasons) I am consumed by a violent rage. No one would ever think that of me because I'm tiny and I don't look my age. Some perverts even think I'm a kid when they see me in darker spaces or from behind. However, that doesn't keep me from wanting to kick ass in the most literal sence of the word or punch someone in the face with a clenched fist. The only thing that helps when I am in that state is pacing, storming out of the door and take a walk or hide away and listen to loud music like Rage Against the Machine. I don't think I have ever consciously or willfully harmed someone because that is the last thing I want to do. Eventhough I'm quite shy and mild in daily life, fury does get the better of me sometimes . Am I the only secretly agressive female on this forum or are are there more woman and girls who has had a lifelong problem with anger?

Yes.

Boys have much better toys and activities. Girl stuff is pointless fluff. Pink insults me.
