Hopefully I'm not re-inventing the wheel here, but girls, what are/have been your special interests? I've browsed this forum and haven't yet come across this topic, but if I am wrong please correct me.

To get started, a few of mine were/are;

Pre school/primary school
Literature (I was interested in a wide variety, however my favourites included Spot the Dog, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Jolly Postman series, The Babysitters Club, The Saddle Club, and many of the Golden Books)
Puzzles
Horses (this one only lasted about a year)

Secondary School
Organising/arranging/cleaning my room/our house
Princess Diana/Royal family

University years[i]
Literature (philosophy, psychology)
Myers Briggs Personality test

I have special interests but I don't want to share them online, it just doesn't feel right for me. There may be others that feel this way about their special interests, if this is true the disscussion of female special interests would be limited.

I have similar interests as you. I've always been really into only specific types of literature. When I was little it was stuff like Anne of Green Gables, the Boxcar Children, and Little House on the Prairie books. Then when I got into high school I became more interested in the 19th century British novels: Jane Austen, the Brontës, Dickens. I still really only enjoy literature from that time period now.

I've always been obsessed with dogs and horses. I think I was more obsessed with horses when I was little. I don't ride anymore because I get a lot of anxiety when I ride at public stables for some reason. I'm a bit embarrassed about my riding capabilities .

Quite recently I've taken up an obsession with rats. Oh how I love the rats. The US just lifted the ban on keeping African Pouched Rats as pets and I'm dying to get my hands on one. They're like rats but cat sized. *melts*

yup. Its amazing how effective it is. I have never had such a well trained dog, and he is only 10 months old! If he sees me TOUCH his training bag, he starts doing every trick he knows until I am ready and start giving him commands. He loves it!

Anime/Manga
Dutch and other types of european bicycles
Music and musical instruments.
American sub-cultures and their respective histories.
Hats, especially 1920-1930s style womens hats.
History (Post Civil War, pre-WWI social history)
Regulatory Policy (this is part of my job)
Libraries and Archives
Third Wave Feminism

I tend to juggle a few obsessions at a time. History though has not been one for a very long time.
